Camera-app hangs immediately after pressing record video button [fixed]

DESCRIPTION:

after pressing start record button on video, it hangs and 5s later you get asked to wait or close.

PRECONDITIONS:

None

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. start camera app
  2. press video icon
  3. press record

EXPECTED RESULT:

not hanging and recording a video

ACTUAL RESULT:

the app hangs

MODIFICATIONS:

No mods: brand new C2, it had the issue, i updated to 5.0.0.68 and still has the issue

i did not see it in the release notes linked here: [Release notes] Tampella 5.0.0.21 for Jolla C2 ? where did you see this?

Apparently it was only discussed in the first two release notes for C2. Since then, it has been mentioned:

We managed to fix this without updating to Camera 2 API (with help of the community I understood). Thank you everybody involved :pray:.

Pretty sure was @rinigus’ fake package_native[1] - great job working on sony nagara and enabling C2 recording too :wink:

I implemented the fake package_native in droidmedia like the other fake Android services we have there already. But the idea came from that external package you mentioned (I had actually used another way to work around the issue when doing camera2 testing by disabling the need for package_native but the fake service was a better way, I hadn’t thought it back then that the same issue was in old camera api also).
