No A-Gps and indoors I already get a fix without waiting that long (approx 2-5min. outdoors where I actually need gps its much faster), so maybe/probably hardware (and/or port) related?
Signal/Coverage seems also ok
No shit. EGNOS is a like US WAAS, it sends atmospheric corrections to GPS/Galileo. http://www.egnos-pro.esa.int/ something like that. But its open source, and it makes accuracy to a centimeter.
You don’t need satellite signal, you get factors from ESA.
I have this use case, I was in Italy, and it took 25 min to lock to a position.
That is ridiculous. If Jolla wants to be a proper mobile, it has to be 15 s.
May I ask which Sony phone you have?
Also, working agps would be nice so you would get gps fix way faster. (but it seems something else is also not working right)
And yes if you really have to wait this long for gps fix, its ridiculous
I agree that you should work on that! Maybe start with those hints to existing projects you got so far. But please find less assuming phrasing; (fast) GPS is not crucial to everybody.
And I worked as expected. Tonight I landed in Barcelona and after the -sadly enough well known- roaming reboot after landing (SIM “lost”) everything worked just fine. 4G, no VOLTE though, GPS after a 2 or three minutes wait and Navigation with HereWego went just fine.
I just wanted to share my experience and my understanding of it. I am a long time SFOS user. GPS always was a problemat first you could help yourself with the mozilla offline packages or A-GPS which helped in some ways, but MLS Mozilla location services were dropped at some time don’t know the reason for. So we stay with A-GPS. For me a soltion to faster get a GPS position is the use of the SFOS App GPSinfo which i start first after turning on location, then i start different map Apps Here, Pure Maps, OSM Maps. This stuff combined gives me a position in a few minutes
