This happens often with audio files, which i use all the time. If I’m listening to a message it shows up, but messages that aren’t actively being listened to disappear if the app is minimised.
Also haven’t figured out a way to bring them back.
Any chance you could run whisperfish with devel-su -p harbour-whisperfish -vv and (privately!) post me the logs of that happening? Preferably of you reveing such audio message, and then minimizing Whisperfish and it apparently getting removed? Thanks.
Neat! Just copying the folders (and files under the folders) to the new phone worked! Thanks for the help! So now Whisperfish works on the new Jolla phone and I didn’t have to register again.

@Asmodeus: don’t forget to remove (or rename) them from the old phone, such that you don’t accidentally start it again and corrupt your account!

Thanks for this tip as well! No need (well, hopefully heh) for the old trusty X10II so I’ll be able to just remove them altogether.
Hello! I got an error message and it seems like Whisperfish is stuck in that error even if I uninstalled it and installed it again. I also tried to restart the phone.
The error occurred when I was trying to add Whisperfish as a secondary device. I had scanned with my old phone (Android if that matters) and the Jolla phone was just loading and seemed to be stuck. I tried to close Whisperfish and restarted it and then I got this error immediately.
I got my Jolla phone yesterday and Whisperfish was one of the first apps I installed so it is possible that I have done something wrong. I installed Whisperfish from Storeman.
I will run the command that direc85 suggested and can send it if that would help.
Reset (Frequently Asked Questions · Wiki · Whisperfish / Whisperfish - Signal on Sailfish OS · GitLab) and install a more recent version from Package registry · Whisperfish / Whisperfish - Signal on Sailfish OS · GitLab. I urgently need to release a new version that contains that fix + some visuals to the FAQ and that website. I’m starting to spend more time typing out the above than actually coding on Whisperfish now 
(Congrats to Jolla for getting so many devices shipped though!)

Thanks for the extremely fast reply! Reset worked and then I downloaded the harbour-whisperfish-0.6.0.beta.42+HEAD.20260812145129.7e75a085-1.aarch64.rpm and then I was able to add it as a secondary device.

Noob question: Will I need to uninstall and install via appstore as soon as the new release is out, in order to receive auto updates further on?

No need to uninstall, as long as you have rubdos’s repository enabled in Storeman, it’ll notify you of any updates and let you install them over the packages you installed directly from GitLab.

I also had problems installing Whisperfish on my Jolla phone. The beta worked and the first chat is already visible. So I am on my way to ditch another Android app.

LPT: ditch it in practice by not using it, but maybe not by removing it. Could come in handy to still have it around! 
Yes. I see the first group chat where I get new messages only in Signal but can still write in Whisperfish.
Edit: All groups seem to be silent in Whisperfish
Something seems off with groups indeed since this week. Wrote down an assumption on https://whisperfish.rubdos.be/, but your comment is rather interesting: when did you start using Whisperfish, and when did you join these specific groups? If you have a recent registration, and all groups are totally dead, I assume something else is off that I blatantly miss.

I started using Whisperfish again just now. I felt obliged to ditch as many Android apps as possible. These groups are very, very old as is my registration. I am using Whisperfish as secondary app.
I tried sending myself an @$MyHandle in one Group an it seems to synch*.
Actually every chat seems to synch only after one message from the other side.
I keep watching.
*Edit20260823 Group is out of synch again.

Might be related to the group issues, but I have one contact who always has “Delivery error” for my messages. Only just started this morning. Whisperfish is linked as a secondary device to Molly. Every other contact seems to work.
Unrelated, I believe. Can you message that contact via Molly?
Yes, messages are delivered to them via Molly. But what is also fun, is that I see the messages I sent from Whisperfish in Molly, but they are just never confirmed delivered. For every WF message on the contact’s phone, I see something like “There was an error delivering the message.” But from WF’s side, everything looks fine. And all other contacts thus far seem to work fine as well…

Smaller release this time, but doubly important due to fixing a crash while linking Whisperfish. Includes several fixes as usual, so it’s a good update for anyone already registered as well. Maybe we broke normal registration in this one (but I doubt it).

First of all, thank you for stunning work with WF! Even if you claim this to be smaller release, there has been constant activity in WF repo
Regarding this, do I remembere correctly that one should wait X hours before this takes effect? I did change the setting from WF, force closed it and reopened, but didn’t reboot the phone. But at least for now the names don’t follow the device contacts and I can’t manually link them
