Regarding this, do I remembere correctly that one should wait X hours before this takes effect? I did change the setting from WF, force closed it and reopened, but didn’t reboot the phone. But at least for now the names don’t follow the device contacts and I can’t manually link them

This fix should take effect immediately, but maybe we messed something up again. Would be great if you can make an issue on Gitlab.

Apologies if this is a stupid question but how does it work? I wasn’t able to find it.

I now see how it can be double interpreted. When receiving or sending more than one attachment, you can now swipe through the message’s attachments. The alternative interpretation, where you can see all attachments of a chat, is not yet implemented (but also highly desirable!).

Just tested this and hey presto! I can scroll through the images, though it didn’t play an attached mp4 video.

Can confirm this.
Was added to a group yesterday, contains only pics. Would not see the group in WF untill i did send a message in signal.
Then group is visible in WF without any messages

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the share plugin. I have updated the repo on OpenRepos recently.

Whisperfish 0.6.0-beta.44

This release restores group messaging. Since July (0.6.0-beta.42), group messages have been silently arriving but failing to decrypt, so conversations progressively and permanently went silent (1:1 messages were unaffected). Whisperfish would ignore sender key distribution messages, because of a misplaced early return. We also started sending DME’s, which basically means groups will heal rather quickly after installing. This also fixes identity key resets (which were wrongly associating ACI’s and PNI’s and hence never resetting except for exceptional cases). Furthermore, identity-key-change notices (and pending message requests) no longer inflate the cover unread badge.

• Bug: Fix group messages being silently dropped (process sender key distribution before dropping content-less messages)
• Feat: Send decryption error messages on failed group decrypts, so senders re-share and resend
• Feat: Detect attachment size mismatches via download metadata, and retry timed-out attachment fetches
• Feat: Add libsignal-protocol to --verbose log list
• Bug: Reset identities correctly (fix local/remote service id confusion)
• Bug: Identity-key-change notices and pending message requests no longer inflate the cover unread badge
• Bug: Fix stale Recipient cache on id/uuid change

It seems I receive one notification per new message (I didn’t count but many, anyway).

Yeh. We’ve rewired the notification system a gazillion times by now, and every time some new idiocy pops up like this… I’m tempted to rewrite the thing in Rust and just expose the delta via QML :'-)

Is there a way to import the chat history in Whisperfish? Sorry if it’s something obvious that I’m missing, I looked everywhere amd I didin’t find that option and read through multiple forum posts.

I got the same problem. Linking contacts to a contact in Whisperfish/ Signal just shows: No contacts

Also does the manual way of adding an emoji to Whisperfish worked (I tested with the newest/ current release) for any of you?
The other one with patched emoji keyboard is not possible atm due to it not being updated to 5.2.x
