My very impatient girlfriend didn’t bother to transfer her old Signal account to new iphone and created a new account with the same phone number and now I can’t send her messages on Whisperfish, though receiving them works fine. Any ideas how to fix this?
That doesn’t sound great. Can you send me logs for receiving and sending a message? I have seen similar things happen on new registrations, and I’m torn between prekey registration issues and PNI issues…
If it is indeed PNI: as a workaround, you should be able to respond in Signal Desktop, after which she will have your ACI/PNI linked together, and WF should understand again what’s happening.
I would love to send you logs if I knew how. In the settings there is option to enable and store logs, where are the logs saved? Do I have to pick part of log or send the whole thing or what?

I saw some way up thar registration has been troublesome. Also, in Storeman it seems like the current version has problems.
Therefore I tried registering with an official Android app to be able to set Whisperfish as secondary. No such luck.
How can I use Whisperfish?
Neither registration nor linking works currently. We first have to implement PNP correctly, which is the base primitive for the today-released usernames feature.
Ok, so new users of Whisperfish is impossible?
Whenever possible I would like to only use Whisperfish and delete the Android app from my phone. Will that be possible or will I have to re-register?
It will be possible again, but I will still advice to keep either Signal Android or Molly around for emergencies

Thing is: due to surprising api updates, whisperfish tends to stop working now and then, so a backup app, can be on laptop, is never bad

Nope, registration/linking is still not there. 90% of the problem is Implement PNI (#459) · Issues · Whisperfish / Whisperfish - Signal on Sailfish OS · GitLab, so you can track progress there.

Well you did all the performance work, which includes building some nice SQL analytics too! That is the most impressive feat in this release in my opinion (gotta go fast etc.)
Crash fixes are my favourites currently I think, and there’s more than one of those in this release, I think!

For me it’s exiting to see the progress of WF.
Unfortunately for me it’s not working at the moment.
I’m waiting for the next release with excitement.

Could you elaborate? Is it linking/registration, or something else that doesn’t work for you?
The linking is broken since the last 2 versions of WF.
I used WF as secondary device to the original signal app.
In WF I can see only old messages and on the coverpage the connection state is red.
Silly question ?
I upgraded to last Whisperfish and last Signal Desktop, pairing is not possible anymore.
Is this the issue “linking is broken” ?

I have a problem with a single contact which apparently recently got a new phone or something like that, and now Whisperfish states “The identity key of this contact has changed. Please verify your safety number.” I entered the contact in the android app and reverified - there I can send an receive messages again, but Whisperfish is stuck. Is there something I can do?
