Thanks, still I was rather lazy to do anything with the old phone. I just made a copy via WinSPC from the squlite data from the X 10 I and have copied to the X10 III. And it works.
While I was there, I even copied data from Android apps, that I needed.
But I always realize in these cases thet SFOS is not for the average user. Just to find where app data (especially android) is can be a fun research by itself.
From my point of view:
Not for the average user, true.
But as you said: provided there is some curiosity from the user, it is fun to use; in the end it is Linux, therefore fun to use
And now my update after using it with the SIM Card.
All in all: Generally same or sometimes better experience as with Xperia 10 I
I was using with Preffering 5G and 4G Calling (VoLTE) enabled
Android Apps loosing internet connection sometimes is the same, but this can occure on WiFi as well
No Echos or any other calling issues
Call seemingly always goes via 4G (I was un Urban Area mostly with good 4G coverage) no drop to 2G
The bug of loosing Mobile Internet from the phone after a call for a Minute until Tower reconnects 4G (occures sometimes in X10I) is not there
So all in all the upgrade was worth it, and at lastI have no problem with running more power hungry Android apps if necessary.
I am only struggling with Revolut (Banking App) not liking the rooted device. But I would neven even attempted this on the X10I.
Best answer!Xperia 10 III user here. The phone its much more faster and usable with any kind of de-googled gsi`s.Even Android 15 vanilla its less buggy by far,but still Sailfish OS for daily driver Curiosity its a very strong feeling !
I tested all options now on my provider. (Your experience may vary due to different bands available at your provider.)
I realized I have the VoLTE ringtone bug on 4G VoLTE, it is somewhat annoying but not really a huge deal. Switching VoLTE off solves the issue for now as seen below. I still think that this is the best current option for SFOS and well usable as a daily driver.
Prefer 2G: goes to 2.5G at my provider and calls are ok. Outgoing ringtone OK
Prefer 3G: behaves same as above
Prefer 4G with 4G calling (VoLTE) OFF: Mobile internet OK after calls, Calls OK â falls back on 2G as intended, Outgoing ringtone OK
Prefer 4G with 4G calling (VoLTE) ON: Mobile internet OK after calls, Calls OK â calls made on 4G as intended, Outgoing ringtone and feedback sounds Not available.
Prefer 5G: Behaves as Preffer 4G above. I Suppose there is no 5G available in my area or would need some additional settings.
I may go abroad in some weeks and may report back in case I see different patterns with other providers.
I go with single SIM + microSD. Your case is a bit strange. I have no idea how dual SIM phones phisically solve that they can handle 2 carriers. Still I would assume if no other SFOS user reported something like this, that the setting of one of your carriers does this.
You are completely right about this. Howewer the little devil in me says to write you now that I cannot correct and edit my original post, that I donât care how it is called. I am really sorry about that, it is nothing against you personally.
someone⢠here in forum gave me that hint of 2 sim cards. and just yesterday i bought a pre-paid sim so that in next week when i travel i will be sure to have mobile phone coverage (2nd sim is active but thatâs about all).
now that i have â2g onlyâ in mobile settings, idle power consumption last night was 0.88 %-units per hour. w/ 4g that is 3.6 %-units/h (and device âwarmâ).
thatâs my situation briefly. iâll collect more data and post info on the threads that already talk about these issuesâŚ
