Whatsapp notifications relayed only when whatsapp is running

OS VERSION: 4.5.0.24
HARDWARE: xperia 10 ii
UI LANGUAGE: german
REGRESSION: unknown

DESCRIPTION:

the whatsapp notifications are relied only when
the app is in foreground, i.e. when launched.

PRECONDITIONS:

whatsapp installed
some whatsapp notification, for example messages from others

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. get a message from one of your contacts

EXPECTED RESULT:

a notification is displayed on the screen when the message is received

ACTUAL RESULT:

no notification is displayed when the message is received, only when whatsapp is accessed

Have you selected ”allow background services to start on bootup” in the Sailfish settings for whatsapp?

To confirm :slightly_smiling_face: is this on “Settigns” → “System” → "Events (notifications, I dont know as I have “Ereignisansicht”)?

In Sailfish Settings, go to the Apps tab, select Whatsapp and it’s right at the top of the page.

If MicroG’s cloud messaging feature is used for push notifications, it’s also important to disable batterry optimization feature of MicroG. Otherwise MicroG’s background service may be stopped, so no notifications are processed.

Indeed it did,
however sometimes only the notification is relied, and the Whatsapp icon does not appear on the lockscreen. But perhaps that’s a different dragon.
