Why? this wouldnt magically fix all issues.
Its not that important if something is open or closed source.

Because you are not dependent on one big player. The same as for all open source software.

more trust from the cummunity/user, Because not only promissing to not spy, but fully open code can be checked

for example I would’n’t see any difference between Microsoft and Redhat OSes, if RHEL wouldn’t be open sourced. And additionally, here other can fork for the community.

Just one negative about Jolla and you are being punished … what kind of people are those, who do not accept criticism?

anyway … I have said it many times …

What? did jolla police come over and you had to pay a fine or what does punished actually mean :upside_down_face: ?

also no problem saying package x from jolla/sailfish is buggy shit, but maybe add some context and always remember its niche (and linux). For that its working quite good. Also you can easily adjust stuff yourself

Any news about Aurora 5.2?
The concept images with the new look for the user controls looked very nice.
Did they start implementing any of that?

5.2.0 was released in december for some devices. But buggy

New ui from screenshots, desktop mode, vulkan, external ethernet adapter ui, api for libusb inside sandbox.CEF based browser as system browser with PWA support.

How come there are no articles or videos about this?
Or did I just not look in the right places?

Thanks for the links, guys, but there is nothing new there from a regular user’s perspective.

Most information in those links is just the official marketing material: image mockups and animation mockups released by the company that works on Aurora.
Also, code changelogs are useless if nobody can actually use the thing on a real phone.

I have also seen a few articles about phones that allegedly got the 5.2 update or will get it.
But there are no reviews anywhere.
Nobody has seen aurora 5.2 on a device, apparently.
Or nobody has bothered to review it.

Does 5.2 really exist on actual phones?
If so, does nobody in Russia care enough about it to review it?

Cool! Thanks for the info!
I’m really curious how it will turn out, because the promises were pretty interesting.
Do you have any idea if they plan to follow Apple and add transparency throughout the user interface?
Frankly, the user interface transparency (and typography) is what I have always liked about Sailfish.
Huawei’s Harmony OS has followed Apple in adding transparency, and have also added their own touch on top of it.

I am curious if there are any plans to also add transparency to Aurora.
