What actually is Aurora OS and who is using it?

something like liquid glass?

It doesn’t have to be like liquid glass. Harmony’s transparency is like liquid glass, but Sailfish’s transparency is not like liquid glass.
But the common denominator for all is that they all have transparency in the user interface.
As far as I know, Aurora does not have transparency at all so far. That is why I am curious if they plan to add it.

no plans to add it …20chars…

As things stand at the moment, for those of us that prefer to only install FOSS apps, this would most likely be the most secure phone in Europe given that the governmental authorities refuse to so much as talk to each other. Your data would be worthless to any Russian spyware and because the phone’s primary purpose is to neutralise Russia’s dependence upon the western big tech outfits, they most likely would be unable to sneak their way in.

Are you aware of the patch “Glass Backgrounds Everywhere”?

I’m watching it and kinda crying inside. The licensed fork is developing, and as for now I see nothing new from Jolla… Unless they are cooking a big good update with 5.1, then idk…
They even got sound settings with separate volume levels… Buttons navigation is also cool for some people who just hate gestures… Come on Jollaboys and Jollagirls, add things like that too.

The two operating systems have taken different paths and made different decisions.

If Aurora already has the features you’re interested in, why not install AuroraOS directly instead of trying to copy what others are doing?

Thank you for revising your text. My message is no longer relevant; it has just been deleted.

Why not adding vol. slider to the top menu?

No, I am not.
Is it for Aurora OS?

Lol. They are not cooking anything.
They are at most praying that the Jolla Phone 2 does not end up like the turd of a phone that is the Jolla C2.

Because of at least two technical issues:

  1. It’s not available outside Russia
  2. Version 5.2 does not actually exist. At least not yet.

Is this whole top menu scrollable??? You have a lot of icons there.

Anyway, I think, that this would make top menu look a bit too busy? For years (and currently) when users wanted to adjust volume, they just pushed volume buttons and had a small volume level on top, or went to settings. I would say, that only main volume with buttons and top indicator is fine fo me, as long, as I can go into settings and change the specific volume slider. That’s how I see it. Current top menu is fine for me (as long as I can remove lock screen button :expressionless_face:).
Also they could put the slider in top menu as an option in top menu settings.
This could be cool.

5.1 exists, 5.2 technically exists, as for pilor project

Sorry, my mistake. I meant to say 5.2 doesn’t exist yet.

I will edit my message to fix it.

Is it possible in Russia to buy a terminal with Aurora OS? If yes, can our russian friends tell us in which store? Also a link to a shop would be very helpful. Thank you!

Right now there is no means available to westerners to buy anything from Russia as all western banks have been forced to suspend their payment systems due to sanctions. Even if you could pay you could not get it delivered as all the western carriers have suspended their services too. Short of paying someone in Russia to buy it and bring it out of the country with them I’m not sure there is any legal way to get your hands on one.

Another thing to bear in mind is as to whether their network firmware is compatible with ours or not and the fact that it has no service provider certification might prevent you from accessing the network with it too. AFAIA although it was originally based upon SFOS it has been seriously modified for the Russian domestic market since.

I will visit Russia in the summer, so if you can tell me in which store do they sell Aurora OS terminals I would be very grateful. Thank you!
