Want to cancel order

I have emailed jolla several times and I have yet to receive a reply. I’ve also issued support tickets and yet again no reply.

I just want to cancel my order due to AI reasons.

I keep seeing a graphic in my emails showing “pay now, defer, or cancel” but I cannot find where to cancel my order, or how to even get in contact with anyone at jolla.

Am I going to have to make a credit card charge-back claim?

The queue is round about three weeks. Please dont bomb Jolla with mails. You cancellation will happen sooner or later.

You got me very curious… what are those “AI reasons”?

Same for me but i sent an email and now sit tight and wait. I’m not in a hurry.

Either the same user or someone who is confused as well.

In case it is unclear, Jolla phone doesn’t have build in AI features. Their local AI products are completely different from mobile OS

Not the same user.

To briefly reiterate my concerns from my linked thread, while what you said above might be true, it is NOT what the official website of the company says.

I put in a second order to use the voucher, also assuming cancelling was something you could self-serve on from the wording in the email. Obviously the wrong order of operations, but also not the end of the world.
So i’m currently loaning Jolla a bit of money. :person_shrugging:

But i can only concur, SFOS is blissfully AI free.

I checked the website just now, and didn’t see any claims the SFOS would come with any AI features?

From the About page, first paragraph (emphasis mine):

With over a decade of expertise, Sailfish OS is now enhanced for AI-driven applications, trusted globally for its openness, independence, and flexibility.

From the same about page….

In addition to our OS, Jolla is pioneering Edge AI innovation with our Jolla Mind2 AI computer. Designed for on-device AI, it delivers faster, more secure experiences across various industries, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible without the limitations of existing ecosystems…

… Mind 2 AI computer, not Jolla Phone 2026

Keep in mind that the Mind2 assistant is listed to run Sailfish core.
So sailfish being used for AI, yes, but not the mobile version from what I can find.

But in the end, it’s your money.
Have a good one.

It is a creative interpretations of what the page says: the phone runs Sailfish OS and the AI computer runs Sailfish Core, which I assume are not the same. In the end, this could be easily resolved by the company clarifying their website instead of having (potential) users making guesses, with some dismissing ambiguities and others presuming the worse scenario (worse from their perspective).

for, not with, so I still don’t know why you claim SFOS will come with any AI features.

There’s nothing to resolve since sfos is open source.
Unless you think that Jolla shoved all their AI knowledge and effort on the weather app, in which case we cannot help you.

Anyway, please use your own thread or login with the other account if it’s you starting this one.

That’s true, but things sometimes seem to get lost in translation from Finnish to English. I’m sure they’ll fix it when they get around to it, but it’s probably not at the top of their list right now. @avhakola makes a good point, too.

For the record, the ‘AI’ in the Mind2 device runs locally. It’s more of a local chatbot than the ‘AI’ pushed by Big Tech.

I agree! I have been close to cancelling my new phone order a few times since paying my deposit, due to misconceptions and concerns about Jolla, the OS and technical/software issues. What I have observed, after a few months on this forum, is that the long term members of this forum believe in Jolla eventually sorting things out, all you need is patience (a lot of it). Jolla is a small inward looking software/tech business that currently falls short on instant customer service due to limited resources. I think we all hope for the day Jolla is fully funded and can respond like a ‘normal’ customer facing business. I have started to believe in the Jolla project and I am relatively certain that, once the deserved investment comes along, things will change. Untill then, this forum is the place to clarify your concerns…. in a nice friendly, non combative manner.

To finish, if you search this forum, you will find very few discussions about AI, as it is not what SFOS and it’s phones are about.

Well, there’s the issue - making guesses.
I know Mind is (more) focused on AI, but nothing for phone.
Obvious it would seem…

May I ask why you’re against AI? It’s just a tool, it’s like being against a wrench, in my opinion

Please make a separate thread. Answers might explode.
LLM are not just a tool. At least not if you look wider than just your prompts.
