Vodafone Contract Xperia III (on Android 11 blobs) SailfishOS 4.0.0.73 - SMS send on 4G now works successfully.
You mean SailfishOS 5.0.0.73?
Sorry – yes 5.0.0.73 ……..
Tested VoLTE on Sony Xperia 10 III on the Magenta-Network in Austria.
It registers and calling works, but for SMS, only receiving works, sending always fails

Pre-5.0.0.73, I could only send SMS by stepping down to 2G (UK Vodafone Contract) – I deselected 4G calling (VoLTE) in Mobile Network settings.
The 5.0.0.73 Early Adopter release fixed this.
I know this is not the right thread but I didn’t get a reply in the relevant one.
Could please someone also confirm that it is normal that in a dual sim device (Xperia 10 III in my case) only one sim card can register to VoLTE, which is the sim card that is set for default mobile internet connectivity?
Can someone from Jolla please also let me know if this will be the case for the X10IV or X10V dual sim variants, or the J2 phone? Or will they be able to simultaneously register both sim cards to VoLTE?
Thank you!
I had the identical behavior in a Xperia 10iii: only the default SIM can register. I tested with two SIMs from different countries and could swap them between slot one and two. But only one of them, the default selected one, could register with VoLTE.
I got the same problem with provider sim.de in Germany which uses O₂ network and belongs to Drillisch which belongs to 1&1 as far as I could find out. I have an Xperia 10 III and they sent me a new sim card at some time in summer 2025. VoLTE worked with the old sim card.
I had a sim from them as well (and quite a few from their other dozen sub brands) to use on other devices.
What happened last year is that I got a new sim and I was moved to “1&1 5G” network while i was on O2 network before.
While my phone showed 1&1 5G I checked the network details and actually it was using 4G Vodafone, so it explained why I couldn’t even use the Internet in my area.
Why I’m saying this? Because if Vodafone is problematic now, maybe you are on their network as well now without even knowing it.
How can I find out reliably on which network I am?
In Mobile network settings after searching for networks it says
Willkommen
DE 02
o2-de
DE 03
Telekom.de
DE 01
First one is the right one. Does this point to Vodafone?
There are several solution:
- You should see “Willkommen” on the bottom of info page of locked phone.
- The same you should see under selected sim in Settings->System->SIM cards
- You can install NetMon Volte app and check MNC and MCC.
Only #3 is a solution. Willkommen is just the stupid name which is stored on the new sim card to announce that it’s capable of 5G, like welcome to 5G.
- Yes
- Yes
- MCC = 262, MNC = 2
Found a list on Wikipedia: it’s Vodafone.
Yep, I used the same app @kan_ibal suggested and also passed the sim on an android and iOS device to do a Serving Cell Info test with a dialer code.
All showed the same pointing to Vodafone.
In case anyone else was also still wondering, they’ve recently switched to Citymesh’s network, and they now support VoLTE and 5G. However, it doesn’t work on the C2. I’ll ask them about it sometime.
Sailfish 4.5.0.25 on Xperia 10 III, Iceland, service provider is Hringdu.
It can connect to the internet by 4G, but the 4G Calling bulb stays pulsing, and a bit of text says “not registered”.
Edit: Tried flashing to 5.0.0.77. Same story.
Have you tried this: VoLTE on the Xperia 10 II - filling in the gaps - #112 by koza
Except with a different mbn location that suits your provider; maybe or maybe a general one, like:
echo “mcfg_sw/generic/common/default/vl/global/mcfg_sw.mbn” > modem.conf
Was VoLTE working prior to installing sailfish?
Updated Canadian providers Telus & Bell confirmed to function on Sony Xperia 10 III.
Only caveat is group or multimedia messages do not work properly on the Messages app.
