VoLTE provider support

Hi, very bad news from Sweden and potentially for other European countries that might follow suit:

The devices that don’t support 4G emergency calling will be shut off from February 2026.

See here: Operators must ensure access to 112 – certain mobile phones will be blocked | PTS

thry don’t even provide a list of devices that will get blocket but I got notified by my provider that my Xperia 10 ii dual sim will be among them. No idea, I assume they’re using the IMEI to identify devices.

Using blacklists for emergency callings is utterly stupid. It looks like intended action for increased censorship.

or maybe not. maybe its needed because they shut down 2g/3g and want to ensure you actually can call emergency

Definitely not. Xperia 10 ii dual sim is 4G and volte capable device. Do not be stupid.

yes, the argument is that some older devices support VoLTE in general, but not for emergency calling. No idea what criterion my provider will be using but I think my phone will stop working by then.

And, while VoLTE is working on that network (Comviq for those who’re interested), other SIM cards from abroad don’t even registerfor VoLTE …

here its says you can still use 2G/3G, but you have to switch operator “PTS’s directive means that users of these phones must either switch to a phone that can handle emergency calls over 4G/VoLTE or switch to an operator that can also route emergency calls over 2G and 3G via its own network.”

I really dont know what the capabilites of the xperia 10 ii are. But maybe its a issue with sailfish? I encountered myself one which shouldnt occur, if volte was implemented properly (not sure). But I need to manually switch to 2g for sms sending, but this shouldnt be needed (its somewhat difficult to explain for me, but I encountered this issue and trying to hack around by switching to 2g before sendig sms, but this shouldnt be needed at all, as 4g should support sms if used correctly)

which would mean that Telia would give a grace period until 2027? Not sure how much this will help …

Read up on it and yes, Telia is not affected for now. I have no idea how many people use SFOS in Sweden but that seems to be a solution for now

There is no an issue with SFOS. Do not be stupid.

I’m not from sweden so I dont know which operators are available (and use there own 2g/3g network instead of routing, which according to the article is the issue not 2g/3g network itself)

What, of course is the sms sending issue sailfish related (at least on the port i use, but you can find more people with sms issues), else it would work over 4G, I mess around with this shit since 2 days

Xperia 10II works with 4G and volte does work as well. Do not be stupid the third time and the last.

shit wont work

Please stop call people that. Not knowing something or having different experience is not equal to stupid. I’m sure you can inform with respect.

Do you suggests that 4G and Volte do not work in Xperia 10II?

This discussion seems completely derailed. Could we get back to emergency calls in Sweden?

Or shall we go on talking about SMS and how stupid others are?

According to the linked article, no device will be shut off from emergency calls, but some operators wont work if they use routing for 2g/3g

edit:
the thread topic is about VoLTE provider support not emergency calls so it seems offtopic either way

hi, not entirely sure about the off-topic of it since it’s about working VoLTE providers that will stop working after that date … and thus change the table :frowning:

maybe I could provide with the device string:

SE | Comvic (Tele2) | 10ii | 2025-10-21 | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | (not “tested” since that was just normal usage, I think I have sent one earlier though with VoLTE on but no guarantee here)

Any reason that you don’t edit the first wiki post yourself?

I didn’t know I could and when I tried, the SFOS browser crashed  Fixed it now from my PC
