How is the situation for the Volla / GS290 at the moment please? What would you suggest at the moment?
https://repo.sailfishos.org/obs/nemo:/testing:/hw:/volla:/yggdrasil:/
i would say situation is: 4.4 is the most current one for a gs290
Thank you @pawel.spoon , want to say I’m very happy with the Volla, only want to stay up to date and not miss something.
I have the gs290 on 4.4.0.72 and it has a couple of advantages over the Volla22 on 4.5 (browser) … but I need to update to 4.5.0.18 testing to see if the bugs are out. Still, don’t see much reason to update the gs290 at the moment.
The difference I see between the X10 @ 4.5.0.18 and the Volla @ 4.4.0.72 is only the browser behavior on tap (click) is better on 4.5.0.18, but Browser still crashes frequently. So on Volla I use mostly Firefox / Waydroid, that is slower and doesn’t look so good as the Sailish browser but doesn’t crash.
I just bought a Volla 22. I got it very cheaply on eBay. When I get it I’ll immediately imstall the Sailfishos. One decent phone after a long time. 10II from Sony was not for me. I did not like it.
thanks sir,
update to 4.5.018…i try command ssu re 4.5.0.18…???
Can one skip …16 and update directly to …18, coming from 4.4.0.72?
How can I perform the update to .18 please explain I’m too stupid
Start a terminal (or ssh in) and type:

Ah, same old problem. After first restart, have to turn on the PIN setting, shut down the phone, start the phone and then it’s back.

Ok. I calling this test finished. If you turn off comms on this thing regularly, it holds a long time
Thanks for the test @poetaster, it really got me interested in the GS5.
I’m now checking out the installation process and if i understand correctly it uses the ubports installer. Are there other ways to install SFOS? There is no unports installer package/ebuild available for my distro (Gentoo), so i’d have to write one myself or find an other way to install.
