Sony Nagara (Xperia 1IV and 5IV) port

What I don’t understand is, that this must be more expensive for them. They will for sure have more returns because of that and they have to pay the returns. If they would simply state it is the SOG09 version but aside from a unlockable bootloader, there are no downsides, I think people who just want to run Android on it wouldn’t care.

I think they buy these phonesi n large batches and don’t care. If they work as expected in the country they sold them, everythings ok. Why should they bother about the two people out of thousand who want their bootloader unlocked?

Ok, I have now ordered by another seller. Hopefully I have more luck this time.

I’m now using 1 IV as my main device. Whole day with it (light use, two calls) and I’m still with 92% battery . Miles better than 10 III imho.

Holy moly, this sounds fantatic. I really hope, that I have more luck with my new order.

99% it’s not yet calibrated, you can’t escape physics, unless this phone has 10x bigger battery real usage is a lot higher and within few days will end up being the standard 1-2 days of usage

One interesting tidbit - for some reason WLAN IP is not visible in Developer Tools.

Could be, but the battery itself shouldn’t be, since I bought the phone used. Might be something in Sailfish though.

I mean I wish, but unless this phone is a huuuge brick (afaik it isn’t) no chance it lasts 10 days

We will see. What @bundyo discribed is on pair with the Japanese model I had running Android - without an inserted SIM. I’m quite sure, that the phone doesn’t run 10 days on standby mode. But maybe we can get more than two days, This would be a huuuge step coming from an Xperia 10 III and would be on similar level as the Xperia 10 II from my girl friend.

Its usually ~2 days for me. Its rather hungry on browsing, so don’t expect miracles. Although, number of days is hard to tell – I rarely charge it fully and just in the mornings top up on wireless charger.

Yeah, I didn’t browse on it today.

will it support all 3 cameras?

can it be activated like on 10mk3 (via disabling the selfie camera)?

Cannot promise you that. Right now camera is using camera1 API. mal has some prototype with camera2, but didn’t had a chance to make it work. When we will be able to test with mal’s code, I don’t know. so, take the current features as they are and we cannot promise more at this moment.

I had read in older forum posts that the Xperia 1 would not be ported to SFOS. And I would be curious to know if a port to an Xperia 1 III would be possible in the future.
I have one and I prefer it to the XA2, but I have definitely left the Android world.
I was hesitating to sell it.
Well done for your work.

It’s a shame that we still rely on camera1 API. I wish Jolla could spend more manpower for this. Smartphones are often bought and used because of it’s camera abilities. Sailfish is here not really a brilliant option. Camera2 API with RAW support would be a huuuuge step forwards.

Good news on my side. This time it seems to be a XQ-CQ54.
At least it’s stated on the package and this is a original sealed Sony box. So a brand new device.

Don’t have the time at the moment to have a closer look. But will have a look the next days.

Ok, guys, i think I’m giving up. I’m totally frustrated. I have a
XQ-CQ54 it isn’t a branded one, anyway I’m not able to unlock the bootloader.
What the heck is this?

Any tips? Despite the shown status I tried it with fastboot and Sony Flash Tool. No success.
Am I doomed? Is it just a gamble to get unlockable phones? Is there a way to force a unlocking?

Maybe it is some customized version of the device (nightmare!!!). In the same way as you’ve got to screenshot with Bootloader unlock allowed: No, look around for Service info, Software info and customization version. With that version try to search for it – maybe it is some special carrier locked version.

PS: Really sorry for you!

Hi, can you plug it into Xperia Companion and check the model? Does it return the correct one (XQ-CQ54) in your case? My best bet is that your 5 IV is a Japanese device that has EU firmware flashed. Forgive me if I’m wrong, but here is my easiest way to detect if the phone can be unlocked and confirm it’s not a carrier-locked Japanese one:

In case one didn’t know, some sellers sell Xperia branded as “global”, but they are actually carrier Japanese phones (DoCoMo/SoftBank/au) flashed with EU/JP unlocked firmware (but only SoftBank/au ones can be crossflashed with EU 54 firmware) - and they are fairly easy to spot. REAL 44/54/62/72 models have a “Do not recycle” logo on the back, along with the “Sony Corporation | model number” text at the bottom of the back glass. Japanese carrier-locked models, in most cases, only have the Xperia logo or that carrier’s logo on the back.

Also 62 models can’t be unlocked - Sony said that on their website.
