Snapchat on sailfish

The kids insist on using snapchat, against all good advice that they shouldn’t bother to :pleading_face:. But on sailfish with microG installed and activated, the login still won’t work. Has anyone been successful in getting it to work? Thanks a bunch!

Back then when I myself used Snapchat, it used to just work without microG. But maybe they’ve changed something.
What exactly happens when you try to login?

Also, I’ve read on Plexus that sometimes you need to downgrade Snapchat to an older version, login there and then upgrade

It complains about several unsuccessful login attempts. We thought this may be triggered by some OS-level thing. But it is good to hear that in theory it should work.

Do you try this on XA2, or X10?

I ask this since some apps say “too many login tentatives” when you use their 32bit version to log in, and let you login fine on their 64bit version.

Last time I got Snapchat working on an unofficial device without safetynet I had to download it from the Hauwei store. I guess the play store version uses some advanced safetynet stuff that most other apps don’t use. The one from the Hauwei store doesn’t, or didn’t the last time I had to get it working.

Can you Download the appgallery apk from within its own website and install Snapchat from this store:

Thanks, @yusssufff and @twzorek, we now have tried this – I assume it is a disadvantage having to go through huawai appgallery, which potentially reduces overall security?

In any case, also the huawei version of snapchat posts the warning and blocks the login.

Ok. Did you also install HMS from Huawei’s Appgallery? Thats the huawei’s GMS version. That will help.

if that do not help, install GBox from Appgallery and find Snapchat inside Gbox.

Have you tried with different accounts? This has happened to me on a regular android phone too but then it seemed to be a server issue with my account specifically from what I remember

I got it working by using instructions from following reddit post https://www.reddit.com/r/SnapchatHelp/comments/wicxw1/due_to_repeated_failed_attempts_or_other_unusual/

My system info

  • Device: Sony Xperia 10 III
  • SFOS version: 5.0.0.72
  • AAS with microG version: 0.3.11.250932

Basically I first installed an older version of the app. Then I was able to log in. Lastly I updated the app to latest version by using Aurora store. I hope this helps.

It was version 11.95.0.39 (84640).

For my usage, yes. But I’m not anywhere near a regular snapchat user, I guess. I use the app a few times in a month at most.

I can take a picture, add text to it, add some filter and send it to another user. That’s basically how I use the app.

Sounds like normal way to operate Snapchat, if messaging is working I would say all my needs are met

Normally, without microG this will not work
(back then when I used it it didn’t work)
