DESCRIPTION:

Sharing screenshot via Whatsapp or Signal (Molly) fails.

PRECONDITIONS:

None, I think.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

1. take a screenshot by pressing both volume buttons

2. see the picture in the gallery

3. Share it via Whatsapp or Signal (Molly)

EXPECTED RESULT:

That the media would actually be shared

ACTUAL RESULT:

The media tries to load, but failed. A message informs the user taht the media does not exist in the phone memory.

I tried to find the reason for my problem and here is a somewhat strange fix to the issue. It was indeed something to do with android support but there were some other unidentified issues lying on the bottom: Take a screenshot Check that I can see it in the gallery under the screenshot folder Try to share it with Whatsapp → FAILURE, picture is not shown Reboot the phone and I can now see the image with Whatsapp Take a new screenshot and repeat the process → SUCESS !! Take another new screen…

Crucial information if you allowed Andy to access SFOS files is missing.

1. I don’t know what S.F.O.S. files are,
2. how do I get Andy to access them.

I might be in over my head here…

If you open Settings → Apps → Signal (Molly) → Open Android settings → Permissions. Is the permission Photos and videos allowed?

Not really. I’m often very technical.

I don’t know what S.F.O.S. files are,

SFOS = Sailfish Operating System
Andy is data greedy so the default is to not allow access.

how do I get Andy to access them.

Go to end of the Settings in Information part and tap Andy or AAS support. It should be self explanatory.

Try this before solution from @pherjung. And if it doesn’t help then his.

Just go to the very bottom of the Settings. Just one before the last line

Found it, and it was on.

I then tried @pherjung solution and it worked. My apologies for the unnecessary trouble.

I have to remember to check the permission in the Android settings before posting here, when I run into trouble with an app.
