Scrambled PIN layout like in GrapheneOS

I just learned GrapheneOS can scramble the PIN entry numbers. I love this feature, because it’s very simple to implement and counters the biggest problems with PIN entry:

1. Fat stains on the display can tell which digits were used.

2. If you’re recorded during PIN entry, the PIN may be reconstructed from that.

Can we have that too please? It should be a low hanging fruit!

Agree, that makes sense.

Do the positions change every time? If not, the grease stains problm remain, if so, it makes entering the code a bit cumbersome, breaking muscle memories. Especially difficult together with the low lighting issue when you have to basically guess from memory where the digits are.
Btw, occasionally cleaning he phone seems like a good idea :slightly_smiling_face:

There is a patch already, which works under SFOS 5.0.0.72

Nice! @Jolla, it has been four years already. I really hope you include it in the next bigger Sailfish Version.

Don’t be silly. Nobody wants to force security on you. It should be configurable, of course.

Would moving the whole block a little up/down and to the side every time (like it’s done on a Tesla) not be a better solution that does not break muscle memory?

No, moving the whole pin pad around on the screen doesn’t help security much if the pattern is still the same. Total nonsense in my view. Ridiculous even, if they call this a security feature. It does more harm than good by giving users a false sense of security.

Alright, apologies for maybe initially taking this less than serious. For me it doesn’t really solve anything, but of course for someone with different requirements its good to have.
