Sailtrix - Matrix client supporting end-to-end encryption

A small request for any of the users of the app willing to help. Because i have a dumb phone now and cant use sailtrix or 2fa (don’t ask) could someone test those bugs and close them if not happening anymore?

Thanks in advance.

I can play received videos here. So #57 can be closed.

#56 I cant say for sure. What I can say is that it does not update as it should at least.

Number of messages notification seems to be correct here.

Currently I can’t check my conversations for media files, since nearly all messages get encrypted almost immediatly and are therefore unaccessable (like described above). The messages available right now don’t contain media files. I’ll ask someone to send me media files and report back.

Can somebody tell me how I can access encrypted messages? 1-1 chats are unecrypted on my device.

I think you just need to verify your device within an other device, or web client like element.

I started all my conversations on other devices. Encrypted conversations always stay encrypted on my device, even that encrypted, Sailtrix can hardly read them though verified.

I have one conversation, I started unencrypted (Matrix offers encrypted and unencrypted conversations) for testing purposes. This unencrypted chat can be accessed by Sailtrix at any time.

So are your conversations encrypted at all?

Yes, I get my device up as unverified on my Mac and Element Desktop - I have not found out how…

Yes, some of the limitations currently are that DMs are not started automatically encrypted (i wrote the feature before I wrote the encryption, will fix soon) and that converting room to encrypted does not work (Sailtrix will not recognize the conversion)

Please help by adding translations on Weblate! Making sure you're not a bot!

The Weblate setup is working great. Completed the translation to Norwegian bokmål.

I’ve added a translation for German.
It’s quite complete, but since I have noone to chat on Matrix, I couldn’t translate some strings because their meaning would depend on what they do in the UI and since I don’t know where these strings are in the UI, I rather leave the English string than putting in a wrong translation

In addition, the OFTC channels #sailfishos, #sailfishos-meeting, and #sailfishos-fanclub are bridged to Matrix. These may have more activity.

I receive the error message ‘:warning: Unable to decrypt: Megolm session not found’ when my chat partner writes something. Hydrogen frum Chum works without errors, what am I doing wrong?

Edit: your post Sailtrix - Matrix client supporting end-to-end encryption - #95 by HengYeDev did the trick.
Thanks :+1:

After successful verfication, older messages previously displayed correctly, the text is suddenly ‘:warning: Unable to decrypt: Repeated message_index detected, possible replay attack’.

@ssj2micvm @MeeGo-Junky I think you both have the “replay attack” msg which I am unable to reproduce. Could you join #sailtrix:matrix.org to discuss further? Thanks!

Tried to verify mine, but I am not getting anything when I am in the Rooms tab.

I am clicking on the Verify Session in the Elements Web App btw.

Can’t get verification emojis from FluffyChat on Android either.

If there’s any way to provide you with logs or such, do let us know.

Hmm, can you show me the screenshot after you click on that?

I am testing SailfishOS on an old Sony phone while waiting for the Jolla phone. I witnessed a bit strange behaviour of Sailtrix:

  • Two of my contacts are shown with an avatar that is a room avatar (one shown with the GrapheneOS room avatar, one with an avatar from a room I created). Toggling the “show user avatar” button doesn’t change anything - and these users have no avatar with any other matrix client
  • Rooms loose their name (“Unnamed room”) and avatar; remedy is to leave and re-join - bit cumbersome for rooms I set up and am the sole admin  Also, this only happens with Sailtrix - rooms look fine in the other matrix clients such as Neo on Fedora, or Element Web.

I tried emptying the cache from the settings as a first measure. Then login out & in again. Then uninstalling Sailtrix and deleting the data from ~/.config ~/.cache and ~/.local/share… - all to no avail.

So, are these known issues, or would it make sense to report at GitLab? Is there any data I could try to delete after stopping and uninstalling Sailtrix? Seems like the mapping of names & avatars is persistent even when deleting the data as outlined above?!

Thank you very much for a hint where to look
