Bit late to the party, but I also signed up. I really hope that SFOS can be eventually
a viable alternative to the masses too, Europe really needs this.
I also want to mention that one small thing one can do to support Sailfish is to contact the providers of the services you use and request a Sailfish application. Does not cost anything but a small amount of time.
With the C2, Jolla proposed a subscription model to ensure continuous revenue. The issue to solve is a single payment of 25-50 € per new Sony device is very little money for Jolla to live on assuming one only needs a new device every ~3 years.
A number of people preferred one-time purchases, or yearly payments rather than monthly. Jolla heard and changed the subscription model to voluntary which as @dmz said basically makes it a donation.

my thoughts exactly - everything from 0,01 to infity would make sense to me. Whatever the reason for supermarket prices is.. x,90 instead of a round amount.
Also a yearly option - as already mentioned by others - would be nice.
