Sailfish OS for Fairphones devices

You should try Angelfish web browser

I installed angelfish web browser and it works fine for me. Can I change Qt Runer 5 or Qt 6, knowing that the installation of Qt 6 did not succeed? What is the difference between them and what can you advise me on?

The version in Chum is outdated, there are instructions for the Qt6 version here: How is Angelfish currently? - #2 by dopi04

Why is this happening?
This will cause a lot of confusion for many new Sailfish OS users with the Jolla Phone 2026:
In which app store (Jolla/Chum/Storeman (openrepos.net)/Github of Developer) is the app available and which one is the most up-to-date?

So I installed 5.0.0.78 then tried to update to 5.1.0.10 on my FP5 and got these errors. So I reverted it back to 5.0.0.78 and didn’t proceed.

Did you update the device after flashing? Please try to update to 5.0.0.77 as instructed in the first post of this thread

The Sailfish OS 5.1 is happening quite soon (in early access testing now) and I have already done initial testing of it on my FP4 and FP5 devices and so far it has worked quite well. It needed some changes so directly updating at the moment is not recommended. I will release it once official Sailfish OS 5.1 release is done.

Thanks for response. I was on 5.0.0.78, but had the same issues with other versions. Currently I daily drive android, because I need calls. I can try to install sfos and test it again without volte. Ubuntu touch and Droidian ( furi os ) also had issues with volte. Strange issue is that I did not have any issues with volte on official ports. Only here.

Edit: Just to confirm, what do you mean by “Did you update the device after flashing?” ? Update to android 14 ? I believe that I was on latest android 13

There is no reason to have Android 13 on the device before flashing Sailfish OS, the newer Android the better as at the moment my hardware adaptation for FP4 and FP5 doesn’t update the modem firmware etc so some will remain at the state where those were before installing Sailfish OS. I will have a look at adding support for updating all partitions from Sailfish OS. Some people have reported issues in some mobile networks if they had Android 13 before installing Sailfish OS so I suggest you install at least latest Android 14 to the device, most likely Android 15 is ok also. It’s not required to reflash Sailfish if you just flash only the needed partitions but that requires manual work so easiest is to reflash the whole device, but if want to do only partial flashing I can tell which partitions to skip from Android flashing.

I’m having the same issue as you. eduroam (in my case EAP-TLS + ca.pem + user.p12 + passphrase + identity) connects on the Xperia 10 III but not on the Xiaomi Pad 6. There I get an “Network out of range” error.

Were you ever able to find a solution for the Fairphone?

Does anyone else see a recurring app hint for camera (“swipe down for settings”) every time it’s started, not just first run? FP5 in my case, BTW. I can get rid of it in the Gestures settings by turning that off globally, but the expected behavior is only to show up once – or maybe only once per update – right?

Yes. If gesture setting is turned on, I see hint every time I open the camera.

For me Fotokopierer and barcode reader has been black all the time on FP5, only brightest light makes through. At the same time Camera app works fine, although I could reproduce the temporal malfunction playing with exposure setting.

I hadn’t tried fotocopier yet, but I just did and it’s exposure is way too low just like barcode reader. For sanity, I checked the same version of codereader 1.0.5.6 on my X 10 II, and it was working as expected.

@mal Should we wait for the release version 5.1 with Jolla Phone Day 1, or after it’s over?

I would imagine that Mal is super busy for next few weeks. They are clearly working around the clock and probably some hot fixes needed after day 1

Is there anybode else besides mal working on Fairphone ports?

So I tried to update on Fairphone 5 from 5.0.0.78 > 5.1.0.10 again as I tried on 11 June 2026 and this time there were fewer errors as attached screenshot shows.

I undertook following update via the terminal as

devel-su

ssu re 5.1.0.10

zypper ref -f

errors encounted on Retrieving repository ‘adaptation-community’

ssu re 5.0.0.78

zypper ref -f

zypper dup

exit terminal

reboot

…………………………………………………………….

Since there were errors again but less errors>

Repository ‘adaptation-community’ is invalid

Issues resolved since last update check>

adaptation-system

…………………………………………………………….

I also tried refreshing to the latest version 5.0.1.11 but same results so revered back again

I haven’t yet built the 5.1 changes in the normal OBS project. I’m doing some final testing before pushing the changes there, so far looking good.

Ok great thanks for the efforts so far. Happy to test things and report back as I usual if there are any issues, as I do will all my mobiles/tablets running custom roms (6)
