@mal - Is there a way to test the software for Fairphone 5 before its released - giving users the opportunity to test the software in pre-release/pre-alpha release etc, feedback any issues, which will take the burden of 1 person having to test it all.

It’s possible but requires editing two files on device to get the devel adaptation repos in use.
Change in /usr/share/ssu/features.d/adaptation-community-common.ini to https://repo.sailfishos.org/obs/nemo:/devel:/hw:/common/sailfish_latest_%(arch)/ and in /usr/share/ssu/features.d/adaptation-community.ini to https://repo.sailfishos.org/obs/nemo:/devel:/hw:/fairphone:/fp5/sailfish_latest_%(arch)/ . Similar change can be done for FP4 just change the fp5 to fp4 in the URL To revert back to release repo change the URLs back to https://repo.sailfishos.org/obs/nemo:/testing:/hw:/common/sailfishos_%(releaseMajorMinor)_%(arch)/ and https://repo.sailfishos.org/obs/nemo:/testing:/hw:/fairphone:/fp5/sailfishos_%(releaseMajorMinor)/ . But I’m going to push the changes to release repo very soon. Only final suspend testing is still ongoing.

So I took backups of the files, made the changes to the files, then tried updating to 5.1.0.10 but got some errors.

Then I checked the urls of the revised paths and both came back with 404 Not Found>

Where did you store the backup files? copy those to /home/defaultuser/ for example, not in the same folder where you have the modified files

So I have the correct paths in the .ini files, moved the .bak files to /home then undertook the following steps>

Check then clear the cache>

[root@Fairphone5 defaultuser]# ls /var/cache/ssu/

Update SSU to reflect the new URL’s>

Are you sure you have done correct “ssu re 5.1.0.11” as root before running zypper dup?

check the repo list using “ssu lr” to see that it looks correct, somehow I feel that some repo is wrong. I already added the changes to release repos but I’ll still do a bit more testing before announcing the release. FP2 testing is still ongoing so the other devices will wait for that.

@mal The same problem persists. My issue is that some applications use outdated libraries, causing conflicts. My solution is a clean install, but it will reset me to zero.

Using the same steps I have got Waydroid running on a OnePlus 6 running postmarketOS on the edge branch (living dangerously) but works a treat using the same steps in getting it up and running.

Did you upgrade your Fairphone 4 from 5.0.0.77 to 5.1.0.11? Or did you decide to stay on 5.0.0.77?

I’m currently running /e/ OS without any Google services on my Murena Fairphone 4, but would like to upgrade, now that VoLTE is supported. I’m on T-Mobile in the USA. I previously used the Xpreria Xiii with Sailfish OS, but it only had half of T-Mobile’s bands.

What’s your experience with Sailfish on the FP4?

Installed 5.0.0.72 on my FP4. Saying that this is amazing is an understatement! Wow, did not expect mobile linux to be this smooth, and far less so when it said “alpha” in the download link! Thanks, @mal

I’ve encountered two issues in my first days:
(1) I am unable to register a jolla account from my phone both during install and in settings, but, I was able to log in to one that I registered from browser on my PC
(2) Waydroid. I saw some mentions further up in the thread, but it’s hard to keep track of everything with almost 500 replies. On waydroid-runner I get Failed to get service waydroidplatform, trying again… and on waydroid first-launch I get ERROR: Namespace Gtk not available. Will try to debug a little bit today, but unsure how far I will get as I am neither a developer nor familiar with waydroid.

Otherwise everything seems to work:)

Tried running with waydroid-settings as well. I’m able to start the daemon from settings, but the program constantly tries to open and close itself, also making all other apps unuseable by constantly exiting to the home screen. The container runs, though.
