Besides from the frustration, why would it be trash? Why don’t / can’t you reinstall 5.0.0.77?
You cannot downgrade, but most probably there is a way to repair the device

Sailfish OS has NOT yet been released as Early Access
It is currently in a kind of “developer preview”, so that developers can have their apps ready for the General Access release. Don’t just upgrade because you are curious. Wait for Early Access or General Access, depending on what risks you accept.
Sailfish OS does NOT support downgrading
There may be bugs in releases before Early Access. There may be bugs if your update is somehow not complete. You shouldn’t attempt downgrading, even there’s a bug now offering a downgrade.

There was a clear warning not to attempt the update unless you know what you are doing.
SFOS doesn’t support downgrades. It is clear you didn’t know that since you attempted the downgrade. It is difficult to know what knowledge one lacks, but you must understand that you took the warning too lightly and overestimated your knowledge. You must also understand that unless you have native apps to maintain, this release isn’t for you, which was also stated in the top post.

is your device booting up? you could try to get access by ssh or telnet. if tha doesnt work, you will need to reflash your system.

So, are you implying that I’m trying to be a troll? The situation that happened just happened, and neither iOS nor Android has this issue. I’m already accepting what happened. What you haven’t accepted is that the people who installed the beta version needed a fix so that the old version wouldn’t show. I mentioned this. When I switched to iOS 26 beta, it didn’t ask me if I was on an old version, just told me there was an update. I stayed on the beta version, and then I got the final version and enjoyed the beta experience. I don’t even know how many times I’ve mentioned the situation on SFOS. All I want is for you to understand the situation, and that’s enough. Otherwise, what happened happened, and I’m just mentioning it to avoid it happening to someone else and, if possible, to fix it.
The beta version is not out (will be announced in another thread). This is not a beta version and could you please not spam this thread which is for app developers and their testing of applications with 5.1

I understand the situation perfectly, as I posted about the very issue in this thread already right here!
As mentioned in the title of this post, this is a developers early access release, not to be confused with the early access you can enable through your Jolla account.

I think what you’re overlooking is that this is not really a beta release. As stated in the original post, the early access release will only be made available to users at a later stage. At the moment, Jolla is merely providing the build environment so developers can prepare their applications for the upcoming release.
This is intended for people who understand that the built-in upgrade mechanism was not designed for this kind of scenario and who know better than to blindly trust such notifications.
I don’t mean to sound harsh, but you clearly lack some of the technical background required here and were not the intended audience for this thread.
Unfortunately, you still chose to proceed with the upgrade and ended up breaking your system despite the multiple warnings posted throughout the discussion. You need to take responsibility for that.
At this point, yes, I believe reflashing is probably the simplest solution.

Okay, yes, I admit I overlooked it. I looked into what you meant by early access. The reason I installed it was because I’m involved in the translation round and I was curious to see how it looked. It was just a momentary excitement, and I wanted to try it. My installation was successful, but the issue I faced scared me a bit. After I couldn’t fix it, I thought my device was ruined. I apologize to all of you for causing this. My intention was not bad, and I also apologize for spamming.

Here’s your reply, every time you install app just to see, it will leave a ton of leftovers as uninstall doesn’t remove everything
Maybe a bug report is in order, or maybe pkcon is unreliable so that’s why only top package gets removed when uninstalling from gui, but rootfs getting eaten over time is a fact
Does anyone have issue with camera capture? (both native app and android apps, like whatsapp).
For me it takes pic then gets stuck on processing, and after that at least whatsapp gives error and then you can’t take another pic anymore
(this is on Xperia 10 II)
