I better fix, is to edit /etc/connman/main.conf, and add ifb to the list of blacklisted devices, like
NetworkInterfaceBlacklist = p2p,usb,rmnet,rev_rmnet,ifb
i am a almost 60 years old computer-moron. But i made it. Thank you very much! How can i buy you a pint? (Donation?)
Hi
i can not find you post, but you had issues with patchmanager on volla right ?
since update to 4.5 my patches also stopped working
how did you fixed that ?
Bye
@pawel.spoon Yes I had issues with patchmanager on Volla, some patches didn’t work although they were enabled. I still have Patchmanager installed, but at the moment I don’t use it and have no patches installed.
Workaround: I found out, what patches do, they are human readable text files with instructions, which content in which line of which system file has to be changed. If there are differences between patch file content and reality, e.g. the line numbers given in the patch and the existing line numbers or content in the phone’s current SFOS don’t match, the patch don’t work no more. But mostly I could find the position by intuition and edit by hand with vi as devel-su. The line numbers of config files (will say, the line number in a config or code file, where a specific information is) change often with new SFOS versions. So patches has to be rewritten for each and every single SFOS version and there is no consistency through SFOS versions,
For some other ‘patches’ or tweaks of mine (changes i made) there are no real patches existing but I asked here in the forum and with the kind help of the community I also could successfully edit system files to reach my goal. I wrote down what I did and if line numbers or other minor things change in a new SFOS version there’s a good chance that I can find the new position for the tweak.
Does this apply to the Xperia 10 III too or is it really solely for the Volla phones?
Yes, that brought the network back! Thanks for this easy tweak!
All mail accounts still working!
Making and receiving a call works,
AllRadio, DeadBeefSilica and LLs vPlayer works,
CodeReader works,
Jolla Camera (Photo) works,
Books works,
But: The VPN is gone from Settings/System!!! Why this? Can I reinstall VPN manually?
and: Waydroid doesn’t start - eternally spinning wheel while ‘Waiting for Android UI’,
OSM Scout tries to start but then crashes/disappears, doesn’t start,
Jolla Camera (Video) crashes after stopping a recording, video not saved,
Probably edit the file in /etc/gbinder.d/ and change aidl2 to aidl3
Not sure about VPN, maybe some additional package is needed, does “zypper se vpn” show anything?
Regarding the fix to auto-connection, I think im not going to make a config change for it, and would ask users to edit the file manually themselves. Reason being, its a messy config to add, and ive been told by a Jolla Sailor, that the change has already been added to 4.6 (or whatever the next version will be), making it a short needed change anyway.
Shows this:
[root@VollaPhone defaultuser]# zypper se vpn

In /etc/gbinder.d/anbox-hybris.conf
there is 4 times ‘aidl2’. Shall I change all to ‘aidl3’?
Probably install ```
jolla-settings-networking-vpn
Better with pkcon or zypper?
zypper
though it doesnt really matter, just my preference
I used pkcon because I memorize the ‘pkcon install’ but do not know the syntax of zypper. VPN is back again in Settings and also remembers the previously installed VPN! Thank you very much!
What shall I do now with the /etc/gbinder.d/anbox-hybris.conf
? Change all 4 aidl2’s into aidl3?
edit: I changes all 4 aidl2’s into aidl3, so I will now reboot. What shall I test after reboot? For what bug is this change mentioned to fix it?
edit: I’m doing a reboot now and will see… and report ASAP.
edit: Waydroid is back again! Thank you!!! OSM Scout still crashes on trying to start it. But GPS and GPS Info works fine.
Video camera doesn’t crash any more but saves an empty file now. On a second try, Video Camera crashes and writes a 0 byte file into ~/Videos/Camera/ .
Browser is much better now! Thank you so much @piggz !
Same here with video, bit waydroid works
the updated patchmanager version does the trick.
no-home-carousel, v-notch and launcher patches do work.
funny that some 4.5 patches (no-home-carousel & vnotch) can not be applied, but similar patches for older versions do work.
fine with me will not investigate that.
For the clock I simply did the following - Quick ‘n’ easy:
File is /usr/share/lipstick-jolla-home-qt5/statusarea/StatusArea.qml
Commands as devel-su:
cd /usr/share/lipstick-jolla-home-qt5/statusarea/
cp StatusArea.qml StatusArea.qml.orig.bak
vi StatusArea.qml
[ESC] :set number
In line 88 there is:
x: Math.max((iconBar.width - width)/2 - parent.x, 0)
Replace original content with:
x: (parent.width - width)/2 + width + (width /2)
Then restart GUI with SF utilities.
Many thanks to @poetaster who shared this hint!
I can not turn on blue tooth
the bluetooth page wont open
it did work on 4.4
i did not yet edit the config file, but have ethernet disabled …
OsmScout just started on my volla with 4.5.
i did a pkcon refresh already
Just now I did a ‘pkcon refresh’ as defaultuser, but it didn’t help. Osm Scout was still crashing on trying to start.
Then i did the same but as devel-su, but this also didn’t help, Osm Scout still doesn’t start.
On both attemts I simply typed ‘pkcon refresh’, then there was a progress bar and then finished with ok confirmation ‘finished’.
Have I done it right?
Mee too, exactly the same. I tested right now. Starting BT from upper menu shows ON, entering Settings/Bluetooth leads to an empty screen with nothing. To turn BT off again in upper menu I had to restart GUI with SF ulilities.
I followed @piggz hint:
I better fix, is to edit /etc/connman/main.conf, and add ifb to the list of blacklisted devices, like
NetworkInterfaceBlacklist = p2p,usb,rmnet,rev_rmnet,ifb
and added the ifb at the end, this was easy and mobile data is working fine now.
