Hi all. I’m not a newbie to Linux but I am to Sailfish OS. Recently the preinstalled sailfish is messenger app has stopped sending. I can receive messages, but not respond. It was working well three days ago, today being the 6th of November 2025. I downloaded The Google Messenger app through Aurora store and I have the same result with that app. I’ve turned the C2 phone off, toggled airplane mode, and updated to the latest release last night. Problem remains. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.
The normal Jolla messages app is primarily for sending SMS/MMS, so you have a problem with that, right? (or are you using something else?)
Because when you have problems with SMS sending/receiving, it might be because of some carrier shit. Maybe it has something todo with VoLTE? Have you enabled or disabled that?
Maybe look here: C2 VoLTE provider support
You are using VoLTE, i.e 4G, right? I had this as well. Interesting was that after a reboot it always worked. But after some time, it refused to. I used tcpdump and it seemed to be a problem of the process, since no SIP (UDP,…) packets were sent, when I clicked on “send”.
I have to be more precise: I meant that the message app did not trigger a SIP message (packets), when the error occurred. So, I inferred that it was a problem with the app.
So have you recently switched SIM cards by any chance?
Apart from a provider issue it could also be stale message fragments in the ofono cache:
I’m also intermittently running into this with my C2. Restarting mission control service should restore SMS sending capability:
systemctl --user restart mission-control-5
This is not a permanent fix however, the issue can happen again later.
Just getting back, tried removing second SIM. Unfortunately no change. Did factory reset and tried again with one SIM. Didn’t work. Thanks for your help. I’m sure Jolla will address the problem at some point. I’m leaving the forum, I’ve noticed not just in responses to me but also to others seeking help, that there are frequent aggressive replies and pointless egoists replying with derogatory comments. This is not going to endear people wanting to use Jolla phones unfortunately. Anyway, enjoy your day, and many thanks to the people out there who offered real support.
No. It is you who are out of place with your behavior in this community.
It is one thing to have a problem and seek help. It is another to do it in every thread one finds, even if it is off-topic in that thread.
This is egoistic behaviour by you. It is behaviour that would be frowned upon on any forum or community.
Also, there were no hostile replies. No one was attacking you. There were replies asking you politely to change your ways, because people know that your chances of getting any help are going down it you’re being annoying.
If you must rage-quit, rage-quit, fine. But don’t blame others for it.
