Sailfish OS update from Jolla
Greeting to Sailfish Community. It’s again a public holiday here in Finland - Ascension Day.
Last week we had the usual Community Meeting. We had new faces there like @fingus whom we warmly welcomed there. Very nice to hear new voices in the meeting and please don’t hesitate to join. If you think that 7:00 UTC is not good, please raise your voice by replying to this newsletter and let’s try together find a better time slot.
Sailfish OS 5.1 branching will happen during summer time frame or right after summer break. After branching, we need a month or two to iron out issues. The work on the ESR 102 takes still time that’s for sure but sailfishos-esr102 branches are now available in the GitHub. Some have speculated that it’s very close but it is not – it may land to Sailfish OS 5.1 but not to the first release.
Finally, Jolla C2 kernel is now available in Sailfish OS GitHub Adaptation Repositories.
Energy from the Community
@lumen nicely picked the beacon from the last fortnight as an ambience which is actually very to close to the Water ambience. This could be something that should get packaged as a pre-installed ambience.
Please feed us your news
This is a community update, and frankly we can’t always keep up with all the exciting stuff happening in the Sailfish community. Plus, the less of this we have to actually write ourselves the better. So please help us out by posting your Sailfish news updates to the forum as a reply to this post. We’ll collate as much of it as possible into one easily digestible post for the next update. This is your news!
Please do also join us at our community meetings on IRC, Matrix and Telegram. Next community meeting will be on the 5th June
Happy Ascension Day!
