[Release notes] Tampella 5.0.0.73 - Early Access

Update is now correctly applied! I just hadn’t enough free space, although I had a bit more than 500MB free space.

I always make sure to have a decent margin for error now because on my XA2 I once freed up exactly the amount of space needed to allow an update to proceed, and the update failed and left me with a broken system.

The browser search issue has been fixed earlier, edit: -.68- .61.
For me it keeps working (X10 III) after upgrading to .71: non URL strings go to duckduckgo/selected search engine.
I apologise for the potentially stupid advices:

  • try toggling the search engines in the browser settings ensure they’re persisted then try again searching.
  • if still not working, stop the browser and rename its settings folder so that you force it created anew. If that works, you can maybe restore your browser settings with the retrofited ‘good’ search settings.

Xperia III on Android 11 blobs:-

No problems on installation :waving_hand:

  1. Browser search is functioning correctly :+1:
  2. Network connection constantly shows 1 bar(Vodafone UK Contract) :-1:
  3. Android apps – some panels/windows are shown approximately 1/3 size: the window has top/bottom and left/right borders with the same dimensions as the window :-1:

See and fill bug about that.

There is a setting to change. Please search for a fix.

It is somewhere in the Android settings, maybe ‘display’ section…

I tried now these things in this order. Restarting ohmd or ngfd didn’t fix it but restarting the pulseaudio did. Restarting pulseaudio took like 10-20 seconds. @mal is there something else i could do to help debugging? I experience this bug few times a week approximately so I can thinker what I can

If you still have logs you can see if you find any messages from pulseaudio or ohm in there. In output of “journalctl -b --no-pager” as root (i.e. using devel-su). You can send those as private message, or even the whole journal log.

Thank ou for the hints.I tried all what I found: renaming the folder, toggling the search engines, even re-installing the browser but the result is always the same. As you write anything in the search bar the browser opens a site that matches more less with words in the search bar, i.e. you write news and it opens cnet.com, you write bells and it tries to open bells.com

Unfortunately I went to sleep too early…. But as I experience this often, I will take the logs next time!

Well, aparently it wasn’t if it still appears on newer versions…

Nothing helps, including reinstalling the browser, xulrunner and embedlite packages, and more.

We are aware of the browser search issue and trying to figure out what’s causing it and find a fix before we release this to all.

It may have been broken already earlier and just gone unnoticed, as it looks like search services initialized earlier work OK.

I have now experienced new problem for my Xperia 10 III where android side looses internet. Usually it is able to recover from utilities but takes multiple restart attemps. I haven’t had sim inserted so only moving from wlan to wlan. Might be that androis side haven’t been able to recover when the internet is finally available

Update went fine in xa2, but Bosch ebike flow APP login is not Working…

Edit: it needs Browser feedback!

Many thanks for the help!

I rediscovered how to view Android Settings, which was itself displayed as originally described: 1/3 screen size with large borders.

I tapped on the screen and it repainted full size, and I navigated to Display but could find no setting which obviously changed the screen dimensions …

BUT, that full size window/viewport carried over to Prime Video video playing.

Previously, the video was in a shrunken, 1/3-size viewport and this time I had a full-size video.

Possibly related to this bug? [4.6.0.11] Video calls in AppSupport are shrunk (not full-screen). Many apps affected - #16 by thigg

Anybody have charging issue with this update on X10 III?
I need to play with the threshold settings (force charging) oterhwise it dont charge. If i reboot without remove cable charging is ok.
Its like threshold always work even when battery level is 40 or 50 %

I have Jolla C2. I am also doubting some problems with charging. I do not use activation treshold but stop charging at 90%. I have noticed twice that the battery has been charged to 100%. Have to debug more.

No, all right here. But I am not using any trashholds. Just charge from 15-20% to 100%.

I think that’s intentional. It’s good for the battery controller if 100% is done about once per month to measure whole battery capacity properly. Nothing to worry about.
