I also updated my Xperia 10 III and my Jolla C2 to 5.0.0.55.
SMS sending from C2 works now in o2 - de Network.
Need also to test on Xperia 10 III…
Updated C2 without any issues.
Android Apps that complained about missing Google Play services on 5.0.0.43 don’t complain anymore and are working on 5.0.0.55 (MicroG 3.6)
Still echo problem in Xperia 10 III after update.
Wow even Uber now works with microg, with map displaying and all, great stuff
Interesting, I do not have this issue since I flashed base Android before SFOS flash as as suggested by @wetab73
Release 4.6.0.15 was a stop release (read here). This means a device must be updated to 4.6.0.15 before proceeding to 5.0.0.
The GUI should be used for updates as it “knows” the next mandatory release. In your case, the phone had 4.6.0.13. The GUI should have proposed 4.6.0.15 - it wouldn’t let it go directly to 5.0.0. But there was something wrong with your phone.
If the command line has to be used for updates then you have to ensure that all stop releases are installed. No shortcuts to the latest release!
# starting from 4.6.0.13
ssu re 4.6.0.15

ssu re 5.0.0.55

Would it be still save to expand the root partition of C2 after the update to 5.0.0.55? I am a bit afraid to update since I didn’t have time to backup and expand root +enable fastboot flashing.
Thank you so much!
This process helped me @ my C2
After physically swapping the SIM cards, I went to Android Settings → Network & Internet.
Here I now saw one of my SIM cards and internet connection

Feels the same here. Apps are faster. gPodder takes now mere 15 seconds to be usable. Used to be more than 45 seconds.
Great !
Nice we got this!
Before the upgrade, I had ESR91 going, but not well. So I used sfos-upgrade to ensure I had everything restored before upgrading, and disabled some seemingly lost repos in the post-upgrade phase.
Should sites like https://lobste.rs/ and https://sahko.tk/ work at all?
The webview in this sfos forum app?
Because they absolutely didn’t, and I thought that was just me, but now I’m a confused old man because they’re still terrible with everything official…
Thanks!
Jolla C2 user here with .55 and latest ESR available. Both URLs work in webview of SFOS forum app as well as external browser.
Mobile data does not work for Android apps on the C2 in my case. I toggled flight mode and rebooted several times. In Android settings under “Internet and Network” it shows “no sim card”. I guess that is wrong. Can I debug it somehow?
Well,I did what any ordinary user does. Going into the “Settings > Sailfish OS updates” and selected that what was offered. In my case it was 5.0.0.55. The phone does not have any special configuration, no 3rd-party repos, etc. So, it is not users fault! The concept of “stop releases” should be hidden by GUI - its not the user that must ensure this. Or not?
Whisperfish is fine with me (SFOS 5.0.0.55)
Bizarre.
I can’t do screenshots now, no usable computer nearby, but on my un-upgraded xperia 10iii https://lobste.rs/ looks completely different if I set “Desktop version”.
It looks like it does on this xperia 10iv ESR91, where the change is a minuscule font-scale change or so.
It did not help to clear all browser data save for history and bookmarks. Anything else I could or should do?
I’ve been using my work phone for my web needs ever since I pulled ESR91 onto the 10iv (and it didn’t work as expected) that I’ll survive, but this isn’t ideal.
Could you drop me some logs? WF starts for me on .55
Yes exactly. Stop release are hidden by the GUI. A normal user does not need to know about them if (s)he uses the GUI. The warning is for those who use the command line for updates.
swapping the sim card slots may help, as it did for me
10 II updated without apparent issues, except that it looks to have messed up Meecast from the Event View.
Apparently replaced it with the SF default Weather app, which I still had installed.
@rubdos
Thank you for caring. After your message I played around and found the problem. It is necessary to save the password again in the settings.
