Just to clarify this once regarding the comments about AI: the app is not vibe-coded. I use AI for debugging when useful, but I write, test and maintain the code myself.
Also, not replying to every forum post is not an admission of anything. I have several other projects ongoing (that I’ll be releasing soon…) while also actively continuing development of FUTO… The source is on GitHub, unlike many others that don’t do that, so if anyone is concerned about quality or trust can inspect it and decide for themselves whether they want to use it or not.
Version 0.3.0 will be up soon. I’m continuing to put time into improving the app and releasing useful software for Sailfish OS.
First of all, thanks for the great work here. And it should be clear to everyone that not everything works 100% right away. But I do have two small comments.
The swipe gesture in German isn’t working smoothly yet.
When I have my device on silent and “Do Not Disturb” mode enabled, I can still hear the keyboard sounds. This bug should be fixed.
Jolla C2 with OS 5.1
For the swipe, a lot of testing needs to be done, as each language can have it’s own issues.. Unfortunately, I can’t test each language as obviously I do not speak all of the included languages. All I can say is just test and give feedback.
The sound issue is already fixed and will be included in 0.3.0. A new option will be added to follow the system sound settings.
I’m getting ‘download failed: HTTP 404’ when trying to download the new dictionaries, and also when trying to download ‘FUTO Swipe’. The other downloads seem to work fine.
Edit: two more small bugs.
The ‘System default’ sound setting seems to only take into account whether ‘Touch sounds’ (the second switch under Sounds → Feedback) is enabled or not, but it doesn’t take into account Silent mode, which overrides the ‘Touch sounds’ setting.
When you want to remove something from the clipboard, you can hold and drag your finger up to where the ‘Clear clipboard’ pop-up should be, you’ll get the vibration feedback and when you release your finger, the clipboard will be cleared, but the pop-up itself doesn’t visually appear. This is without ‘Clipboard history’ enabled, if that matters.
I’ll release a hot fix soon for both of the bugs.
(For the clipboard, it will be the same as when deleting suggestions, it will show an X button)
My Minimize Apps patch would be a much better solution for you. It basically minimizes the app into the Top Menu and can be reached from anywhere right away.
