Random system crashes on Xperia 10 II

I’m experiencing random system crashes which don’t seem to be triggered by any specific application. They follow the similar pattern as mentioned by a user in February with the bootloader loading followed by the Sony logo and then black. The only way to get the system up again is to have the device charging. Obviously this is troublesome when moving about.
I’ve managed to capture some logs with journalctl -ab --no-pager > $MYHOME/journal.txt :

The phone crashed again twice just now. First time when attempting to open the Jolla store the screen froze on the opening transition. The second time when plugging in the USB cable and enabling Developer mode connection.
Seems pretty bad from the beginning:

I used the gather_logs script this time and the whole journal text file can be found here..

Yep, mine sometimes reboots when USB cable is plugged in, accompanied by what’s best described as a “squeal”. I’m not sure what to blame, my ageing laptop USB ports, both my USB-C cabled and/or the device itself. Never bothered to check it out, think I did post about it some months ago. So this is a possible duplicate, but no matter. I’ve not experienced a crash through starting any apps, only plugging in the USB cable.

My original post is here; Squeal, freeze, reboot - notably, I experienced this while using a Targus Dock. I no longer use the dock, but the problem persists, quite sporadically.

I took the phone to service to check if it would help to replace the battery which they managed but they noticed there was some corrosion on the circuit board, probably a water damage and they couldn’t do anything about it. I’m assuming this is the culprit.

quick note: if anyone experiences issues like this, you can usually get the phone to boot without having to plug it in by holding VOL-UP and POWER for 5-10s, not connected to anything.

sailfish frequently fails to boot for me when i restart the phone (no hardware defect, since this is across 4 different devices), and holding power wont make it boot. holding VOL+ and POWER makes it reboot, or plugging it in and holding power, and it usually boots the second time.

EDIT: to be clear, the OP’s problem sounds like it’s definitely hardware, but the resulting issue of being stuck at sony=>black and not responding to power button until plugged in is probably solvable with volUp+power button regardless
