Question about Android Apps supported by Sailfish OS on Sony Xperia 10 V

I own a Sony Xperia X, dual SIM (F5122) with Sailfish OS 4.6.0.15 the last supported version installed. Now I want to upgrade to Xperia 10 V and have some question about Android support.

Do the following Adroid Apps run without problems ?

MS Teams
WhatsApp
MS Authenticator
RSA Authenticator

Is it possible to use Waydroid and F-Droid to install and run container-based Android apps with the latest SailfishOS ?

This might be a useless reply!

I use the official Android App Support on the Xperia 10 V, that works fine (with some internet detection issues). I can use F-Droid to install apps.

I have no tried Waydroid and haven’t seen any reason too. Nor do I use any of the apps you mention, but I am aware that Whatsapp works at least.

WhatsApp and F-Droid work fine. Not sure about the other apps nor why you would want to use Waydroid on an official Jolla port when AAS is available (currently for free on the V/IV)

MS Teams is working fine on AAS

Unfortunately I received an Xperia 10 V with variant SOG11 which has a brand of KODDI. OEM can be activate but bootloader unlock allowed says No. For that reason flashing is impossible by default.

Does anyone know if the bootloader is allowed in generally on the Xperia™ 10 V, variant XQ-DC54?

operator cells were locked since the dawn of times. what did you expect?

Not for decades in Slovenia. So not necessarily.

How can I read the original post?

too bad he didn’t buy the phone in Slovakia, but bought it from Japan (it and USA are the 2 main places were the locked operator phones were bought since the dawn of times, hence my answer)

I’ve looked into this issue, rooted the phone, and switched the SOG11 brand. Now I am ready to install SailfishOS.

SailfishOS is running, but some apps aren’t working as expected

For example:
The camera doesn’t work; it starts but doesn’t display an image.
I’m missing Wi-Fi calling, or I can’t find it in the setup.
How do I import an eSIM?

Please just read the release notes. The IV/V are still not ready for regular use. WiFi calling and eSIM are not expected in SFOS in general any time soon.

Oh, I think Wifi-Calling should be possible, because I have it enabled on my old Xperia F5122. But I don’t remember how to set it up.

Another question: how do I get rid of the security code request when unlocking the phone? I can set a new code but it is not possible to say “no code”.

Do you mean the one for decrypting? Only way to opt out of encryption is to flash latest version before implementation something like 4.4 and go through the updates.

No chance that you have WiFi calling (as in actual VoWiFi) working on the Xperia X, especially not under SFOS.

I mean “unlock the phone”. The question about “encryption” was coming up after installation of SailfisOS. See attached.

Yes, it is working. I will try to find the way I have it configured. Xperia XA2 does support it in generally. But the newer Android Apps (WhatsApp / Teams…) aren’t running. That is why I am going for newer Xperia devices.

I think you can set it off from settings - device lock - automatic locking and there set not in use. Or somewhere there. Then it only asks when you turn the phone on.

Camera is recognised as ID = 0. I I am going to tell the application using the real id is should work.
