Question about Android Apps supported by Sailfish OS on Sony Xperia 10 V

If you are going to flash SailfishOS to the device the installation process ask for a secure id after rebooting into SailfishOS. This exactly is the code that Sailfish asked for unlocking the device. I can not get rid of it. Decryption/Encrytion of the device should be different to Device Unlocking.

“set not in use” did it.

In the meantime I played around with SailfishOS on Xperia 10 V an have noticed that it is currently not made for daily use. For me some important features are not working properly or missing.

The main things for me are:

Camera support comes up with a black screen, camera is not recognised as a device. Maybe if coping the camera device driver from the Android 15 ROM it will work. The camera server itself come dumps (android.hardwate.camera.provider@2.4-service_64)

Battery is drainig very fast and is not optimised. Battery status ist updated only after rebooting the device.

The nano Sim is working perfekt but eSim isn’t supported - only if using a SIP account with redirect the phone number, that too complicated and not really useful in daily use. The most important thing is that Wifi-Calling can not be enabled. I you have no mobile network your are not reachable by wlan.

Booting the device takes some time because of the encrption is enabled.

Android Apps like WhatsApp, MS-Teams, MS-Authenticator that I have installed are working fine. MS-Teams is usable but is claiming about that no google play services is install and active on the device.

Positive aspects: The interface is smooth, and the app stores offer almost all Android apps. Whether they’re all usable, however, is something you’ll have to test for yourself.

Due to the negative aspects, I deleted SailfishOS and now use LineageOS on my Sony Xperia 10 V. It works perfectly. Everything SailfishOS doesn’t offer is available in LineageOS. Installation also runs smoothly using the installation guide. Avoid asking the AI. This information is generally false.

And what’s very pleasing is the fact that all my data and apps were copied from my iPhone to the Xperia.

Because LineaAge OS is pure Android system not Linux system like SailfisOS

Yes, you’re right.

Sailfish OS is a Linux-based operating system from SUSE known for its focus on privacy and unique user interface. LineageOS, on the other hand, is an open-source Android-based operating system that offers extensive customization options and supports a wide range of devices. The choice between the two operating systems often depends on user preferences regarding user interface and privacy features. I prefer LineageOS because it offers more features. But let me say, that Android is built upon the Linux kernel, it’s not accurate to call it a “Linux distribution” in the traditional sense. But it’s linux based.

I have to say, nothing has changed since 2017, when I first used SailfishOS on my Xperia x2a. I’m currently using my old Xperia, but new Android apps are no longer supported. So why would I install SailfishOS on my Xperia 10 V? I did, and I miss basic features. It behaves the same as it did in previous years. Camera, Wi-Fi calling, and sSIM are not supported. For me, these are imported features in SailfishOS. Android apps like MS Teams can be installed with a warning that a Google service is required.

LineageOS is free and open source. You can become root and configure LineageOS however you want. Why should I use SailfishOS? Just because it’s based on OpenUSee Linux?

I consider SailfishOS outdated. Take a look at FeydOS. That’s how I imagine SailfishOS and might switch to SailfishOS in the coming years.

Currently I am happy with lineageOS on my Xperia 10 V. All I need is working.

Can you not do screenshots with LineageOS?, just curious.
