Pure Maps (Native map app)

Yes, I haven’t prioritized it sufficiently as it takes a bit of my time to import the maps. I should try to streamline the process (scripts and README at osmscout-server/scripts/import at master · rinigus/osmscout-server · GitHub) further. If someone wants to dig into it, you are welcome. I will not be able to do anything regarding it before the second half of August.

I have installed Pure Maps with OSM Scout Server from Chum on the Xperia 10 IV. Unfortunately I cannot set the location of the offline Maps on the SD card via the media folder, because the media folder is empty when I select it (on the XA2 it shows me everything correctly). Is there a trick i have overlooked?
Thank you!

The path to the card is /run/media/defaultuser/<uid>.

works perfectly, thank you!

Hello guys,
yesterday I went from Jeseniky to Brno (Czech republic) and I’ve tried to using Pure maps on Xperia 10 V. Unfortunately pure maps won’t be possible to find any town / street / or so in navigation mode :frowning:
Of course, I have Czech republic downloaded in the phone.
I’ve tried to restart application and OSM Scout server. GPS position worked perfectly.
Weird is that I’ve tried it today, and it works… can anyone tell me… what could be the issue?

Another question, is it possible to change default voice language in “Navigation” menu. I have still “Bulgarian” as pre-filled language.

Pure Maps 3.4.0 is out. Release notes: Release 3.4.0 · rinigus/pure-maps · GitHub

One important change is addition of OpenFreeMap as a default map provider. It was suggested by @piggz and … it does not require any API keys! As Pure Maps does not mess with the user’s settings if they exist, it is up to the users to change to that provider if they wish. From user-visible changes we also have Digitransit (Finland) updated.

Other changes include switching over to MapLibre Native Qt 3.0.0 with the corresponding support by Mapbox QML plugin (new release 3.0.0). While others already moved to s2geometry 0.11, SFOS and Flatpak are also now updated it.

Flathub and SFOS Chum have been updated by now.

Any chance of it being updated on openrepos? At least in my experience (as a returnee to SFOS), I tried going through the process of installing Chum in order to get an up-to-date Pure Maps, but it requires libpackagekitqt5.so.0 which isn’t available in Sailfish OS 5.0.0.5 (so bumped to .1, yet to try a symlink).

Would really like a functional maps application

No, I don’t update anymore at OpenRepos. Its a mess to do that with proper libraries and Chum makes sure that I don’t distribute something that is linked wrong. I will send at some point a version to Jolla’s Store. But that does not have full functionality

Its a pity that we have this splitted systems (appstores) around.

PS: It is not yet compiled for 5.0.x versions. So, as 5.0 tester you have to take that into account

Thanks! Looks nice in Sweden. Will check navigation tomorrow already.

Its currently using styles by OpenFreeMap directly. in principle those can be adjusted/tuned further. Ideally, through OpenFreeMap project

need to test this version, but in version prior to this, automatic day/night transition for maps wasn’t working anymore, despite being selected in options

just in case, any hint to make it work again?

make sure you map style is not forced for day or night (there is no small green dot next to map style)

thank you, now i turned off all the green dots, will have a try as soon as i can

Yay it installed right out of the box. Previous versions (for me) had mapbox-gl ? dependendancy problems.

Thanks !

Does the update to Pure Maps 3.4.0 require the latest version of SFOS?
I have SFOS 4.5 and there was no Chum updates from Pure Maps 3.3 (but it did found updates for MapLibre and Mapbox)

which 4.5 version do you have? we may reduce in chum number of repositories soon and Pure Maps is not currently compiled for all versions. See Show sailfishos:chum / pure-maps - SailfishOS Open Build Service - only ones marked “succeeded” have new Pure Maps

I have 4.5.0.21. Today I was able to find the update for my version.
Thanks!

As we had most of the libs compiled for .21 as well, I enabled other releases accordingly. So, it should be installable on all releases that it supports.
