DESCRIPTION:

I follow the step-by-step instructions in “How to install Sailfish X on Xperia™ 10 IV” (via Linux), but the flashing of Sailfish X (point 8) cannot be completed.
The Linux script does not continue to run, I end up in the fastbootd menu on the smartphone after Rebooting into fastboot at the Linux script.

PRECONDITIONS:

From terminal:

  • fastboot devices
    [serial number] fastboot

  • fastboot getvar secure
    secure: no

  • fastboot getvar unlocked
    unlocked: yes

  • fastboot getvar version-baseband
    version-baseband: 65.1.A.5.65

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. start with blue LED on the phone the flash.sh

  2. at CMD:

Flash utility v1.2
Detected Linux
Searching device to flash..
Found XQ-CC54, serial:[serial number], baseband:65.1.A.5.65, bootloader:6375-0001_X_Boot_SM6375_LA2.0.1_T_106
Found matching device with serial [serial number]
Fastboot command: fastboot -s [serial number]

fastboot -s [serial number] getvar secure
<< secure: no
fastboot -s [serial number] reboot fastboot
Rebooting into fastboot OKAY [ 0.004s]
< waiting for [serial number] >

  1. fastbootd options on phone are reboot system, enter recovery, reboot to bootlader, power off

  2. after waiting ~15 minutes I click on any of the four options

  3. in terminal:

fastboot: error: Failed to boot into userspace fastboot; one or more components might be unbootable.

ERROR: Failed to execute ‘fastboot.exe -s [serial number] reboot fastboot’.

FLASHING FAILED

Please go to https://forum.sailfishos.org/ and ask for guidance.

EXPECTED RESULT:

Flashing of Sailfish 5.0.0.72 or continued instructions

ACTUAL RESULT:

Install process gets stuck at waiting for [serial number]

MODIFICATIONS:

I first tried it with Android 14. Because it didn’t work I attempted some other steps here from the forum. In that process I had to recover my phone and installed Android 13.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

I found this bug report: Problems to flash Sailfish on Xperia 10 IV (fastbootd menu)

It’s very similar to my issue with the exception that I am on Linux and not Windows and using the newer version from Sailfish OS

The script only works flashing first time. Now you tried, could be that this “first time” is over.
Follow this steps:

So its easier to follow at which point it doesnt work. And the bug-report you mention, describes a problem with a driver. I think, in the past there have been problems while flashing with Linux because of problems with the usb-cable/port or with some bad magic because of the used version of “android-tools(-fastboot)”.

@mettska I tried the commands in your linked thread. At first it looked like it worked, but then I was stuck in a different state. I posted in that thread to revert my phone.

@ohnonot I tried the autosuspend and also an USB2 port that I still have on my PC. Both did not work.

Interestingly when using the USB2 port, the light turns blue, but as soon as I let go of the buttons it turns red and the phone starts booting up
