Will not buy.
-Too big, 5" is enough, Full HD is enough.
-Zoom camera? Quality wide lens camera is enough, you can always crop.
-Too much internal memory, rather include memory card slot.
If phone is going to be like poll results indicates, then it’s going to be too expensive. We need affordable simple phone, the focus should be on the software not in the phone. Big phone is useless with gesture focused OS, if you want to watch movies with phone, buy Android phone.
Yes, but only if it supports VoLTE in my country. I have a 10iii which is VoLTE capable but VoLTE is not supported by Sony where I am and as a consequence none of the mobile providers recoginse the phone for VoLTE connectivity.
When 3G is switched off in a few months I will have no choice but to use another OS.
From the research I’ve done, it’s both a Sony issue and a mobile provider issue.
Sony don’t sell mobiles in our market and therefore don’t install the profiles for the local mobile providers.
While it’s possible one of the pre installed profiles may work, since Sony don’t support my local market, the local mobile providers will not recognise connections from Sony phones. This is apparently on the basis they don’t want the hassle of having mobiles that don’t work correctly on their networks.
SFOS on C2 still doesn’t have reliable email or Bluetooth IME and it feels like I’m carrying a roof tile around with me. I might be on the edge of that rant, but I’m not complaining about slow development, just the failure to fix basic problems.
What’s the issue with email, seems to me to be the same as XIII, bluetooth also similar (except also now possible in android with ‘hacks’)? C2 is slow and has c2 specific wifi issues I never encountered on XIII, but email/bt are not
I still drive the same Land Rover I did when the J1 launched. Bluetooth either can’t see the car, won’t connect at all, or won’t reconnect, in most SFOS versions. Curiously it worked in most of the community ports (not in the early Pro1 ports I remember). It might have been eventually fixed in later iterations of major releases, I don’t recall exactly. It’s never been a problem with any Android or iphone or dumbphone I’ve tried.
No idea about using bt in the android emulator, I’ve never had any reason to try it.
Email silently stops logging in to my various email accounts, on various servers, and the only way I ever get them working again is to delete the accounts and recreate them. From memory, a combination of it being difficult to get debug info, and difficulty changing some of the account settings after creation. It may be related to moving between wifi and cellular connections, I’m not sure. Again, never seen a problem using various linux pcs, android phones and tablets - once email works, it just keeps working.
This isn’t the thread for a longer discussion, but maybe I should pull the C2 out of the junk drawer and give it another go.
Yeah definitely do that, especially now that email/calendar wizard dcaliste has joined jolla’s team, if you can pinpoint the problem it has a high chance of getting dealt with, maybe a separate thread is a good idea
Here is my assumption, the new phone will be a slightly customised model of an existing Reeder(?) phone with better specs than the C2. The price of the new phone would be 100-150 euros more expensive than C2, and in my case i had to pay 60+ euros on top import tax.
That will make the phone marginably cheaper than Fairphone6…
There are some instructions to add such operator profiles in the VoLTE thread. My attempts were not successful.
I tried to copy the profile based on the physical network I think they use (I am with Nowo now part of DIGI, which does not own antennas and uses those from MEO, according to some internet forum)
