[POLL] Will you buy the next gen Jolla phone?

Hi Sailors!
Just a small survey here.

So lets assume that Next gen Jolla phone gets to sale in 2026.
Lets assume that the specs of this phone will follow the current pool results (See main thread about Next gen Jolla phone, and check the votes results).

So just one question, to get an idea of the number of interested people…Will you buy it?

  • Yes i will buy it.
  • No i won’t buy it.
  • Not planning on buying a phone in 2026.

Note 1: This isnt meant to be a thread to discuss about the phone itself, there is already a main thread for that purpuse.

Note 2: If you happen to tick “No i won’t”, maybe you can write down the top 3 reasons why you wouldn’t? But pleeease don’t make it a rant about Jolla or slow developpement and such… 3 short and nicely ordered reasons would do best

If and ONLY IF it matches my expectations, and reviews come in and its not bugged to hell like all of the official ports

If not, I’ll continue to use decade old g2/x2 combo. Maybe eventually upgrade to op6 but we’ll see about that

@yusssufff
is this an official poll from a jolla company member?

If it can fit in my hand i probably will.

Don’t see anywhere the word official, looks like just a member of the forum started a poll?

FYI:
I don’t have a clue what the new phone will be. So I won’t vote as it doesn’t make sense to me to vote for unknown or assumption.

Poll IMHO at least lacks an option:
It depends.

It is not.
Just a community member who started a poll.
Ticking ‘yes i will’ also doesn’t legally binds you to buy the phone .

Maybe. Probably not. It depends.

I already have a C2 that I’m happy enough with that I don’t see a reason to get a new phone so soon.

I now have two phones: The C2 and a Sony Xperia 10V (waiting in my desk). I used my XA2 for about 6 years, so I won’t buy a phone the next years, as long as it is not necessary.
It is even weird, that I now have 2 instead of one phone

Voted “Yes”.

I want Jolla to succeed and SFOS to thrive.
I’m [looking] for opportunities to give them money.

C2 wasn’t it for me, too low-end. I don’t want flagship, either the features or the price, but I do expect a level of device quality (that the 10 series met).

My 10iii is getting old, give me something to replace it with…

I don’t see an option for “probably not, I’d like to see SFOS running nicely on what we already have”

Agree, SFOS runs very nice and fully satisfying on Xperia 10 after attaching a few tweaks. No need for more on my side, except VoLTE, VoWIFI and the screen ratio of the Xperias.

I voted for yes. I have had all officially supported devices so far and I will support Jolla on their journey, as good as I can.
BUT I have as well two Xperia 10 V which are rotting in a drawer. So this time I will not buy it, until I have seen a device which runs properly with SF. I have no problems with smaller hicups. But the phone has to be able to run as a daily driver.

If it matches my expectations, yes.

If I can use it as a phone on a US network, then YES! I’ve already got a SFOS Xperia 10 II, but its support for US carrier bands is such that I can’t count on being able to make or receive a phone call at any random and unpredictable time and place. (And that’s too bad: I really like the device and its form-factor, but I can’t control when my wife will call and say she had to use her Epi-pen or the nursing home will call about my Mom or the school about a kid needing the ER, or some teenager will t-bone my car while running a red light or a tree will fall on me – just to name a few suspiciously specific examples.)

I am also in the camp that I will buy it if it supports US networks. Looking at the poll on the other thread, Its apparent NA customers make up a somewhat negligible percentage of SFOS users though. So I’d rather them focus on selling to their primary customer base first and trying to partner to release phones that are good AND well supported with software. With how many oddball issues have popped up with just the EU carriers, I think its more sensible to develop a stronger solid base in EU rather than try and track issues globally from even more carriers. Eventually, if they can carve out a niche in the EU, I’m sure that it would make sense to actively support other markets with future hardware.

This is the old pedestrian vs. city planner problem: “We don’t need a sidewalk along that road because nobody walks there.”

I voted YES. As long as it’s at least six inches.

Long-time follower, occasional user – recently finally signed up to the forum to vote, and figured I might as well throw in my 2c here :^)

I’ll probably be getting it, though I’ll be holding off until they go a little farther with the open sourcing initiative they’d announced at the last community meeting. The amount of proprietary software in Sailfish has been my main gripe, coming from LineageOS.

Unless it’s 5". In which case I’m throwing caution to the wind and placing an order as soon as they open for em. I’m desperate for a reasonably-sized phone. :joy:
Bonus points if there’s also a headphone jack, but at this point I’m fairly used to having to use a dongle.

Will not buy.
-Too big, 5" is enough, Full HD is enough.
-Zoom camera? Quality wide lens camera is enough, you can always crop.
-Too much internal memory, rather include memory card slot.

If phone is going to be like poll results indicates, then it’s going to be too expensive. We need affordable simple phone, the focus should be on the software not in the phone. Big phone is useless with gesture focused OS, if you want to watch movies with phone, buy Android phone.
