Poll: Continue Jolla C2 shipments

Hi there,

We do want to continue the C2 shipments just like each and everybody over here, so some out-of-box thinking we want to share:

We could reflash all remaining unshipped devices directly with the upcoming Sailfish 5.0.0.29*), which is soon ready and has several major fixes in particular for the reported 1st time use problems. After flashing each device would be booted up, Startup Wizard fully executed, device encryption run thru and Home view tested, essential verification steps to avoid plausible 1st time use failures. All devices would have English UK language pre-selected and “12345” as the pre-set security code.

Each shipped Jolla C2 would also have sticker notifying that we’ve opened & sealed the sales box, and a leaflet with instructions on how to change language & security code, how to setup connectivity and how to create Jolla account.

This would be a simple way to try to eliminate plausible 1st time use problems. Important: please understand we do not have resources to apply different methods for individual shipments but ALL remaining shipments would be done with the voted solution.

Please vote your preference the soonest, based on your votes we decide how to proceed asap!

  • Yes, I’m for with the proposal
  • No, I want to rather wait

Thank you,
Jolla Crew

*) 5.0.0.29 will also be the 3rd official SF 5 release for C2 provided OTA to all C2 users in due course

Good suggestion. Up vote from me.

Thank you all for working so hard to solve the problems. It must surely be as frustrating for you guys as it is for us so your efforts are really appreciated.

What does that second “No” option mean? Wait for what?

If the first option is install 5.0.0.28 and setup the phone with 12345.

Maybe the other option is for Jolla to send them back to the factory for additional QA round and reflashing, so people would receive their phones like factory new and they can go through the first setup by themselves?

Wait for the full fix, which for the time being is an undefined waiting time.

I hope this will also include devices affected by a Zendesk ticket

Yes, those are handled similarly.

I don’t mind changing the password and language when receiving the phone.
For me, it is a good solution.
But please be confident enough to proceed this way. It would be very unfortunate for you if you had to ask devices back again to get them fixed.
Thanks.
