Polar has no timeline (intention) of adding Sailfish support

I understood it that syncing polar devices data on SFOS won’t work since it’s in the android sandbox?

Anyway, contacted Polar, and they seem to maybe have no intention of making a sailfish app.
If more people, like me, would like a sailfish version, maybe you could contact them too? :slight_smile:

I think it would already be something if they could just make sure their android app works under AAS. As both are Finnish companies, they really should work together

This was good raise! I send email to them. Haven’t ever tried their watch with AAS so don’t know all the kinks it have, but I were eyeballing the Polar watch as it is still in Finnish ownership

I’ve been trying to reach out to companies with products/apps that are important to me and just asking. If they have plans, and in short words saying what SFOS/Jolla is. Just to get it in front of the people, so they’ve heard it. :slight_smile:

The more that do, the bigger the percieved need. :slight_smile:

Maybe the issue would be if the app works fine on Android emulator they dont wont to focus on multiple platforms.

i use the Polar H10 chest strap on native SFOS for 2 hours, three times a week, every week, and have for years. you do not even need android appsupport, just native linux.

you do not need to login to any app, or even have internet, you can buy an H7, H9, or H10 used or off the shelf, plug it in, and use it, so they can’t take away support for it or anything.

you CAN also use it in android appsupport on sailfish, it works fine just as in android.

here is what works (everything):

  • using appsupport:
    • changing settings with polar-beat app in appsupport (e.g.: you can enable 2x bluetooth cnxns)
    • flashing firmware with polar-beat app in appsupport (i thought this would fail, but it works fine)
    • EliteHRV app (not saying its a good app, just that it works and seems to track your HR and HRV correctly)
  • in native SFOS (or any linux environment)

i use it to log my hr for distance runs to warn me if i’m at too high a hr for too long, and to plot how my hr changes for the same races over time with gnuplot. i also added a toggle in the top pull-down menu to turn it on/off like airplane mode, and also display my current heartrate under the toggle. both of those things require messing about and are not packaged in a clean little app or patch for patch manager, but they are doable.
