I noticed that the Phone app has a really poor History of calls - it only shows the most recent call from each phone number, and seemingly no option to see previous calls, even if you long-press on a number. You CAN find your call history if you have that number stored in your contacts list (People app), but it’s strange to hide your History some place else, and if they aren’t in your contact list then you have no way of viewing previous calls (apart from the last one).
It turns out it is available, but ONLY if you go to Settings > Apps > Phone > and disable “Quick call”. Then when you are using Phone > History > if you tap on a phone number, then under Activity you will find a list of all calls made to/from that number (as well as any texts). And this is more intuitive, as you can go from History to a list of your call history (without needing to go to the People app).
Just thought I’d mention this here, since it seems rather obscure, and is hidden by default. I see someone complained about this issue 6 years ago, but no mention was made of disabling “Quick call”, so either it wasn’t an option then, or it wasn’t widely known:
I never had Quick Call enabled – when I complained back then, the history was never shown for non-saved numbers, but this was fixed shortly afterwards.
I ran into this recently.
I’m pretty sure this was not enabled by default on previous versions, but it sure is now.
And I agree that this creates confusion.
Esp. if that’s the only way to access call history (is there another?).
Thank you very much for this post – the “feature” that pressing entry in phone call UI activates immediate call is IMO Horrible UX - and I’ve been bitten by that by either accidental presses, or I have tried to see the call history… Now the UI there is pretty good.
With a bunch of new converts/refugees/Linux-curious brought in with the Jolla phone 2026, you might consider sharing that script with the community if you’re comfortable with that.
I’ve never had that problem – well except accidentally calling back spammers, scammers, and unsolicited solicitors. So only in the worst possible cases . . .
I Call so seldom that I forget how The UI Works – and then keep doing accidental (immediate) calls when trying just to see info… The calls are so immediate that I dont Have a chance to cancel IT before recipient gets alerted…
