Personal / Work Profiles on SailfishOS?

Hey there folks,

I have paid the deposit in the first batch of this new Jolla phone. I have not used SailfishOS before but I am very curious about it and cannot wait to try out the new phone.

I have been using Android for a long time. For the last 5 years I have been utilising the work profile (using the app: Shelter) in Android so that I can place my non-privacy friendly apps such as Spotify in the work profile and then run Duckduckgo’s app tracker blocker in the work profile and can then still use a VPN in the personal profile where I keep all my open source and privacy respecting apps.

Does anyone know if SailfishOS offers a separate work profile or multiple profiles?

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

I don’t use such features. Maybe can you learn more about that on this article: Shared mobile devices | Jolla Blog

Thank you @pherjung

The extra additional users features looks great and I’m sure I will find use for it however as I read the article it appears that I cannot install apps on only one of the additional user profiles (and not on my own personal profile) which likely means that I cannot use my app tracker blocking method I have been using on Androids until now.

Maybe there is some other way to have non-privacy respecting apps installed on SFOS, block their tracking somehow and also run a separate VPN in the OS at the same time.

If anyone has any knowledge of doing this with SFOS, please let me know.

As you will use a real Linux phone with root access, you may change a little bit your habit. I encourage you to search for alternative to Android apps. For instance, hutspot instead of Spotify. Don’t hesitate to open a new thread.

Instead of Duckduckgo’s app tracker blocker, you may use privoxy or Hosts-block

Cool, thank you. I will read up on those apps you have suggested (I use Linux on PCs but this my first time using this type on phone).
