Permanently locked device ("Too many attempts")

Today I walked a few kilometers with my Jolla 2026 in my pocket. When I took it out it was “permanently locked” due to “too many attempts” at unlocking it. A couple days ago I set the max number of attempts to 5, without considering the accidents the double-tap-wake-up feature would cause in my pocket.

Anyway, I am seeing a number of posts from people with the same issue, but on an Xperia or a C2, not a Jolla 2026. I am trying to access Recovery Mode by holding Vol Up and then pressing and holding the Power button, but that just initiates a normal startup. Does anyone know if there actually exists a Recovery Mode on the Jolla 2026 and how to access it? Or how to release the phone from the permanent lock? A factory reset would also be fine. Thanks.

There should be recovery mode, have you tried this? Jolla Phone 2026 boot loop - #50 by bardoftruth

As far as I know, you should hold the buttons until the Jolla-logo appears. You can reset the permanent lock in the recovery shell.

That helped, thank you. The key bit was this: “When starting JP26, when the Jolla logo appears, hold the volume up button.” (I was trying by holding the two buttons simultaneously, but the sequence matters.)
I was able to enter Recovery Mode and to release my Jolla from the “permanent lock” as explained here: Recovery Mode | Sailfish OS Documentation . Thanks!
