Norwegian bokmål: Third party apps that can be translated?

March 23rd:

  • Is harbour-dashboard maintained and working?
  • It is the last weblate project with strings in Norwegian bokmål that has not been completed.

Dashboard is unfinished but the parts that are implemented are working fine. You can use it as a fancy world time clock.

I’m currently not working on it though. If you translate it I’ll make a new release soon™. I have very little spare time, so no promises.

There is a really nice resurrected music player called Muuzik! that needs both Norwegian and Swedish translations. I am working on the latter.

Translating is done by a compatible text editor only. My personal favorit is Geany.

You can continuously test your translation by installing the app and copying the half-finished file to /usr/share/harbour-vostok_muuzik/i18n/vi18n-nb.properties… (as root) but I guess you already figured that out.

You need to fork the responding repo to do PR’s.

Me need a crash course in Github and Gitlab

Me and you both…! But I can try to set up a simple how to, just for PR’s.

Well, the way I do it… :face_with_tongue:

I’m been pushing this a bit in front of me… But here it goes…

Spring is here, and I’m entering “maintenance mode”. I don’t think I’ll be translating any more apps until the autumn, but I will do my utmost to maintain the ones I have already translated.

I seem to have gotten hold of a Fairphone 5, it will replace my FP 4, and be my main Sailfish phone going forward  . And I have a C2 for testing…

I’m looking forward to the SailfishOS updates coming this spring and summer, and to all the new phone owners joining us eventually. I’m sure when the autumn comes, there will be plenty of apps to translate.

The next version 0.9.9 with this translation is available on Chum. Hopefully on Harbour in few weeks. Thanks a lot!

Just a small update from me:

  • FlowPlayer and SailHN have been translated to Norwegian bokmål.
  • Started reviewing and complete the Norwegian bokmål translations for Speech Note. Work so far is uploaded as a PR.
  • Suggested translations for 60+ strings for the Weather app that will be included in SFOS 5.1. And I later continued translating a few AppSupport strings. And went on with missing strings in jolla-settings-networking. All in all, 94 strings. Those are my first contributions to SFOS!

And a big thank you to all the devs that have accepted the PRs and released new versions of their apps with the translations included.

I was so happy to see Sailfish Connect being updated, that I started translating it to Norwegian.

@R1tschY - Is it 2 or 4 files that should be translated? And are them templates up to date?
