Norwegian bokmål: Third party apps that can be translated?

I have done a few translations to Norwegian bokmål for applications that I use more or less on a daily basis (and one that I would love to try and use):

  • 36 Questions

  • Advanced Camera

  • Bitsailor - Bitwarden app

  • Bugger! - Bug reporting tool

  • Captain’s Log for SailfishOS - Diary/journal app

  • Chum GUI app - Alternative App Store

  • File Browser - File manager for local files

  • Kaktus - RSS Aggregator app

  • Mattermost - Chat app

  • Minidoro - Time management app

  • NewPipe - Streaming app

  • Noson - Sonos remote control app

  • Rockpool - Pebble app

  • Sailmich - Photo Gallery app

  • SailOTP - Two-factor-authentication

  • Sailtrix - Matrix app

  • Storeman - Alternative App Store

  • Tidings - RSS / News reader app

  • To-do List - Tasks list app

  • Tooter - Mastodon app

  • Whisperfish - Signal app

  • Opal.About

  • Opal Gallery

  • Opal.LinkHandler

  • Opal.MediaPlayer

  • Opal.SupportMe

Not all translations are available as apps have yet to be made available in a new version.

What are the most commonly used applications over at Jolla Store, OpenRepos and Chum (and that are maintained or actively developed) that can be translated? And where the translations are not done with Transifex (I simply hate that service)… The translations should be available on Weblate or directly in Github.

My hope is that the 10 most commonly used third party apps are available in my language, and I will try to keep the translations up-to-date.

Update Fri 16 Jan:

Update Sat 17 Jan:

I have a fast chess application which I develope actively. Not in top 10 but if you like to translate I would be appreciated. The code with some poor google translation trials ( sorry for them) is available shakkikello/translations/harbour-shakkikello-nb.ts at master · Rikujolla/shakkikello · GitHub

Will have a look your Fast Chess app. My son plays a bit fast chess at school.

I’ll translate Tidings first.

harbour-yubikey/translations at master · monich/harbour-yubikey · GitHub
harbour-foilauth/translations at master · monich/harbour-foilauth · GitHub

I have started translating Tidings and File Browser.

A weblate project with Norwegian Bokmål was already started and is now 76% completed.

Advanced Camera was completed today.

The latest update of BitSailor includes the Norwegian bokmål translations.

This weekend I also completed the Norwegian translations for Captain’s Log.

It is gonna be a busy work week, so I guess there will be no status updates before the weekend.

Thank you for your offer!

I’m sure Opal Components would benefit from your work - AND you’ll help out a many apps all at once!

Translations are done here - there’s bokmål already, but incomplete ATM.

So, added OPAL also to the list.

Will have to say stop for now and complete translations of the projects added to my weblate page. Also want to complete two translation projects started by others, Storeman and To-do Lists, and translations of Tidings.

With that I want to say Im fully booked.

You’re not fully booked until you lies on your death bed. Just put them in the queue.

Me? I’m up to +1000 translations and counting. Well it took some time… almost 20 years. So they are not all Sailfish. :face_with_tongue:

Short status update: 15 translation projects completed.

I hope to see some app updates in OpenRepos and Chum

Working on Tidings and Opal Gallery as the next projects, and I love seeing that most of the apps I use are available or are about to be available in Norwegian.

I don’t plan doing to much more translation work, but rather keep these 15-20 apps updated when it comes to Norwegian translations. I hope Norwegian users will appreciate them, but also come with suggestions for improvements and letting me know of misspellings.

Happy sailing!

Thank you @frankps that’s awesome! By translating Opal you automatically partly translated about ~20 apps too that are using Opal modules. And also thank you @eson for your tireless work!

Saw that, so I’m eager to complete all Opal translations. Hopefully something a lot of new users will enjoy this summer

Just a short update from me. I have completed translations to Norwegian bokmål of 36 Questions, Opal Gallery and Expenditure over at Weblate, and by that I completed my planned translation work - but there is always one last thing: Sailtrix!

My plan is to maintain these translations and do a few more apps that use Weblate for translation work.

Enjoy - and please with suggestions to improvements!

I wonder how many of the new Community Members are Norwegian?

Oh, oh, I said no more app translations for a while. But by accident I’ve translated the Chum GUI app to Norwegian bokmål.

Just have to submit it somehow… I’m not permitted to fork the repository to propose the translation. Can somebody please help?

I believe the preferred way to translate Chum GUI is Transifex:
