No calls posible on XA2 due to 3G shut off

DESCRIPTION:

No telephone calls possible. Neither calling a person nor receiving telephone calls. If some one try to call me, I got a SMS, that someone try to call me.
Dataconnection works perfect. Calls via Whatsapp are working fine.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

Restarting the telephone. try to call, try to receive a call
Switch on/off the telephone. Flightmode on/off.
Move the card to slot 2 and repeat the procedure… Nothing works.

EXPECTED RESULT:

to do and receive telephone calls.

ACTUAL RESULT:

No calls possible

Wir haben 3G deaktiviert. Um weiterhin Sprachanrufe tätigen zu können, müssen Sie VoLTE in den Einstellungen Ihres Telefons aktivieren.
FĂĽr Ihr Sony Xperia XA2 gehen Sie bitte wie folgt vor:
Ă–ffnen Sie Einstellungen > Netzwerk & Internet > Mobilfunknetz.
Tippen Sie auf Bevorzugter Netzwerktyp und wählen Sie 4G (bevorzugt) / 3G / GSM.
Schalten Sie den Schalter neben „VoLTE aktivieren“ ein.

Not a bug.
XA2 simply lacks VoLTE - and if your operator has shut off older technologies, then you are simply out of luck.

If you can not connect to a 2G network you are out of luck since VoLTE support is not available on Sailfish for the XA2. This is not a bug.

OK I understand it is not a bug, there is no feature.
Is there any hope that VoLTE will be supported for XA2 in the next Sailfish version?

Is there any alternative OS for the XA2 with VoLTE support?

No, it won’t be supported, now you have 2 options

1 switch to a newer device
2 switch your operator for one that supports 2g calls

My operator supports 2g and that’s how i make my calls

Please move the subject to Feature request. This is the best place for it.
I ask for VoLte feature for XA2. I know Jolla will stopping support for the XA2 soon, but there is no excuse to left users without working and usable Sailfish OS phones behind.
May be other users need VoLte on XA2 phones too.

Thanks a lot for your advice and with all respect what about option 3:

  1. go back to the roots… means back to eyeware OS According my provider it will work.
    by the way: In my residental country 2G passed away in 2023. 3G will gone end of 2025.

I’m wondering if SIP couldn’t be a workaround to keep a working XA2.

While you are right, i had no volte even in my short time with android as no operator in my country supports the xa2

Unfortunately it needs to be supported by the operator too and very few supports the xa2, it seems…
