No audio in either direction, no slight hum or hiss from the speaker, nothing.
MODIFICATIONS:
None.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This has been happening since 2020. I understand itâs considered an old phone at this stage, but it seems pretty poor form that this issue has persisted over multiple major software updates since the XA2 was first supported. Is it a case of being unable to fix it, or unwilling and hoping that users will eventually drop the XA2 and the problem will be âsolvedâ that way?
Indeed, Iâve also posted in that thread over the years. But I re-raised it against the latest major OS release because that thread reference is two major releases old at this stage.
Hmmm, Iâm not a heavy user of the phone in terms of Android apps or the browser, so if thatâs the cause then it must be really sensitive! But even so, it shouldnât be the case that the most fundamental feature of a phone can be torpedoed without warning simply by using other functions.
I called tech support. They had several numbers. One, a normal cell phone number, then 1 or 2 service numbers (starting with 010 or 020 in Finland).
No problem with the cell phone.
Calling one of the other numbers, I heard an automated announcement, then when - presumably - the technician picked up, I heard nothing.
This part is reproducible!
He called me back and everything was fine. I asked him, he said he didnât hear me either before.
This makes me think that there might be a switch in technology after the automated announcement? That makes SFOS fail?
I also notice that I never hear a ring tone anymore. When calling someone, the âtoot tootâ before they answer. Once they answer everything is fine.
Oh, I had a similar experience in summer (same phone and probably the same OS-Version). I tried to call my bank to block my credit card in the night. And after the automatic anouncement the call ended suddenly. I thougt it is on the side of my bank, because its a small bank. But perhaps it could be a SFOS-problem related to yours.
that no âtoot tootâ sound part disappearing is typically happening when the person you are calling is using volte while you do not. If the person you call uses 3g/2g, as well as yourself, the sound is still there.
I didnt test yet if same behaviour reproduces if your Sailfish phone is itself calling via volte as well as the reciever.
Yeah, but can you try calling someone that switches its network to âprefer 2G/3Gâ, as well as yourself? I think if one of the calling person uses volte, the beeeb sounds disappear.
