Will Jolla be posting updates on the process of making the phone a reality? Specs aside, I’d love to follow along on its journey from drawing board to production! ![]()
Where can we pre ordre so we can show we are interest in the new phone ?
Pre-orders are not currently available ![]()
I also thought that and bought pinephone1 years ago
Still not there from what ive heard
I have read your latest three posts while sitting on the toilet.
You seem to have a bad day.
Shift 8 will soon be available with e/OS. A nice device, I like it more than a Fairphone.
Shift 8 will soon be available with e/OS so they are flexible. I have read a good review about this device. Collaboration is the secret. Don’t know if Jolla is willing to co-operate with others.
if microG is enough for you
there is also Brax3
opensource / community based, cheap and entry-level device
it comes with iodeèOS (similar to /e/OS), candidate to have also ubuntu-touch SO in future
murena it self (/e/OS main sponsor) has announced it’s own phone (with presale discount nowadays)
There was a russian smartphone with the concept of two screens. But the purpose was less usability then more consumption, as daily usage of the e-ink display would much less waste the batteries then the Amoled one for surfing and multimedia
Sadly the concept was not really accepted ![]()

Quite interesting hardware this Murena HIROH phone you mentioned (HIROH phone powered by Murena- Pre-Sale).
I can imagine that the next gen Jolla discussed here will be in a similar league.
Yes, the device seems interesting
but personally i have never been satisfied using /e/OS
in this case, the risk is that you don’t have neiter an escape to install something different
Hardware kill switch is very interesting, but sadly a front hole camera and no headphone jack.
I can imagine that the next gen Jolla discussed here will be in a similar league.
the 1200 EUR league??? god, I certainly hope not, that’s a legitimately insane pricetag ![]()

I love that they say it voids the guaranty if you install stock android
the price is high - definitely, but the hardware very nice. A problem is - only one physical sim card.
I hope we will get any details about the next phone and it will be running well - not like Xperia 10 IV/V
Hahaha, nice catch, this funny fact escaped my attention ![]()
As if I’ve ever met a warranty I didn’t void somehow . . .
But it’s still funny
and I LOLd.
I also like this form factor aka aspect ratio, I prefer it much over the elongated Xperias…
Fingers crossed for next gen Jolla phone
While seeking justifiable specs ( future-ready SoCs with neural engines onboard ? ) I’d recommend (re-)seeking in parallel a new jolla ╳ fairphone partnership seeking & profiting from the best of both of these unique ( and perceivable ) worlds - avoiding the raise of kludges such as /e/os or a potential disappearance of SFOS for mobile devices.
Further prioritize a highest possible, sense-making, up-to-date level of reliable and widely compatible app-support for daily vitally relevant apps such as banking, electronic IDs, Bluetooth-WiFi functionalities for Android-designed apps or even e-SIM support.
Think about considering the launch of a smart-branded, separately spun off, quality app-store alliance with uniquely minded flagship partners ( a.o. fairphone ) to actively curate and provide a quality-source for privacy-respecting, sense-making, non-trashy / -bloaty app portfolios for clarity- and privacy- minded people allowing purchases of qualifying SFOS and Android apps.
Encourage developers to offer native SFOS-apps by making them a bit more visible and/or offer elevated alliance-memberships with a bit more favorable, interesting conditions …
A new SailfishOS-campaign shouldn’t really lack ( again ) of indispensable, sense-making app-availability …
Good luck and decison-making, sailors ! ![]()

Call me if there’d be an interesting opening - I might be interested, for the sake of Sailfish-OS ![]()
