Fun that it might be orange!

Looks like that orange picture has a small slice of the upcoming phone as a teaser..

Yeah, it seems like a nice teaser on SFOS page. I do hope that there are some other colors options.

I hope they made the design “Finnish”, like the heritage of the Nokia N9 and Lumia line.

whoa!

Way before even the most optimistic expectations

It’s like everywhere. It highly depends of your prefers and usage. For myself i’m very lucky about the water-resistence of my Sony X10 III because heavy outdoor-usage and scientific experiments in the near of water would have killed all other - not waterresistant - phones till now.
Maybe a repair-service offer of jolla could be a solution. After 3 years send the phone to Finland, pay 90€, get it back with a fresh battery, be happy.

Edit: typo

I like orange - makes me think of the famous J1 “the first one” and C1/Aquafish

(I know that C1 wasn’t exactly orange, but at least a bit similar)

Did we already have the topic of AI-integration? I mean aphone-based AI-assistent, not big data associated, in optimum as a seemless integration to JollaMind2 (3… 4…).

that seems to be a software feature

That’s right, it can be. But it’s also imaginable to use a dedicated chip on the board. This decision would have huge effects at all.

For me and also likely for a sizeable portion of Sailfish users having any sort of AI integration baked into the system would rather be a reason not to buy the device than a useful feature.

Hehe, yeah, AI is not perfect and i’m very sceptical about the development. BUT: jolla offers an AI-bundle (JollaMind2 and venho-AI) which is very useful for full-text-search, organization, calendar, mails etc.

So the conclusion is obvious for me that there could be an idea of AI-stuff in the new phone. I don’t need it anyway but future without AI is very very unlikely (as of today).

They could offer an optional app or something, but why needlessly make it impossible for many current Sailfish users to buy a new Jolla phone by shoving AI down our throats, as the big manufacturers are already doing?

It’s not a shove…

more like a commercial, (hopefully) optional proposition?

If Jolla stays true to its - customer/privacy first - ethos, I see nothing wrong in searching new markets.

That’s it: when jolla is further regarding to this ethos i don’t mind about AI. I’m a mostly happy user of the Mind2 because of its privacy aspect.
Otherwise there would be a dissonance between jollas mark (see 1st post): “Jolla is known for the extra long life-cycle of its products and we remain committed to keep it so.” and a future without AI.

As said i don’t need AI for productive daily use on my Sailfish-device, but would be happy if there would be the option to do that.

And i’m 100% with you @unmaintained that it should be optional.

The timer countdown finishes at 1pm EET, but it says 3pm EET on the image. Could the first time be the start of a live stream, and the second when you can order?

That’s why I suggested an app if they really want this.
Then Jolla could market the OS itself as 100% AI-free, providing an alternative for anyone who simply doesn’t want anything to do with this whole bubble.

Agree.

:backhand_index_pointing_up:Lets hope it does not have the iPhone shape

But has the shape of Nokia N9 / Jolla phone.

Volume rocker on the RIGHT side of the phone. Excellent choice.

It seems that something related to the new Jolla phone has suddenly moved forward! It feels a bit more like christmas already.

This teaser campaign is very relieving, since I’m constantly afraid something happens to my 10 III and I have no spare phone – I’m already having slight issues with the charging port from time to time. Since the device is nearly four years old, I don’t expect it to last too many years.

I sincerely hope the new phone ticks some of the boxes the C2 didn’t. For Jolla and Sailfish, a reasonably functional phone (whatever that means) with pre-installed OS would be a real game changer.
