Dear colleagues, sailors, forum users. As we all know, SailfishOS lacks a lot of native apps, which we need in the daily life.
One of this Apps is an App to communicate with my Cowboy bike.
Cowboy bike communicate with Android / iOS App over Bluetooth, so its not (yet) possible to use Aliendalvik / App Support for this.
I dont know how complicated it is to create such app.
What i see is, that at least 1 unofficial App for Android exist:
I would be very happy if the App could simply open / lock my CowBoy bike. The other functionality is nice to have.
From my side i promise every support for the dev, including testing the the builds on different SailfishOS devices and my Cowboy 2 bike.
Well, the apps which are needed in a daily life are different. Someone need App A, and another need App B.
i am a bit confused why it should break law, when its my bike and i can open it with my android/ios phone legally. i just want to do the same with the SailfishOS Phone. The original Cowboy App is closed source, but the app i linked is open source and may be the beginnig to understand how it works.
@Mister_Magister I dont want to unlock speed limits (which are possible to unlock by the way with the original app). Unlocking doesnt make them illegal. But riding with the unlocked speed limits make it illegal. What is a big difference IMHO. Having a knife at home is not illegal. Killing with this knife is illegal.
What i want is just open and close the bike. just switch engine on and off. It shouldn’t be in any way illegal, when i am the owner of this bike.

If you have nothing to say - just ignore it - go on, read another posts. If its interesting for you and you have something productive to say - than do it.
I know this Forum since 2013. And it never be like this. This make me sad. There are many persons on this forum, who i dont like, or find their posts not interesting (for me). i just write nothing. Because, there are many other folks, who have something to discuss with them… Leben und leben lassen. All people are different. I don’t understand, where this verbal aggression is coming from. You don’t like me, or find my posts boring - just ignore them! Simple like this.
You requested an App for a €3,000 ebike for Sailfish OS.
Okay till then, but you got angry and now are on a mad trip about this forum being like, Hey no Source Code = no App, as nobody probably here has the Bike. They don’t have any need or option/time to reverse engineer it or contact the Dev for the third party Android app for maybe the source code or some hints and also develop a native Sailfish OS app for it.
All you can do is try doing it yourself or find someone of the skilled Sailfisch OS App Dev’s who is willing to do it (and maybe organize/lent/rent them a bike for them to do so).
The citation you cited cites otherwise. But, I guess you better talk to the guy I suggested. He will surely code your app.

If there was source code, just two commands via bluetooth, would be fun adventure to learn how that works (My traccar app was just cause @ferlanero asked me but he is my friend so privileges) similarly my outpost app was just cause i wanted to receive packages so i’m not opposed to small app that just locks/unlocks bike just that guy literally only provided readme to some random app and no source code
Yeah I know, but It’s still funny that he expects it to be done for free if you have to jump through a few hoops to get it done and working from nearly zero to go start with.
Can you guys show me, where i wrote, that i want it for free? Anything is negotiable. There is now source code, i understand it.

You didn’t offer money for it so it’s implied that you want it for free. It doesn’t have to be written. Otherwise you could hire any dev that has nothing to do with sfos to do it lol
I was trying to work something out but as to other answers i agree, they’re basically trolling ther’es no need for name calling or shaming or etc, asking for simple app to unlock bike is perfectly reasonable

I have nothing requested. I asked. It was a simple question. Which could be answered with simple answer(s). I got angry when i read bullshit answers, which has nothing to do with my question and are written only to troll or abuse me.
I can not know how much people has this bike here or not. Its a bike, which is 5 years old and cost 2000,- EUR when it was new.
It could be that someone could write me: “Hey i have the same bike and already tinkering around and reverse-engineered the BT communication” - which would be the starting point for the further communication.
I did not requested, that someone sits down and write me an app from scratch without source code for free.
And no, i am not on a mad trip. As i wrote before, i am SailfishOS user from day one. From Jolla 1 which i got in December 2013. I have done very much for this community, i am cbeta tester, one of the Admins of the German SailfishOS Telegram Group. OK, i am not a developer, but stil… And when you place a simple question in the forum, where you are active for more than 10 years - and get such answers, you simply think: “Do i need it? Do i really need this community?” For what? To get such answers for a simple question?
I dont understand, how this community which wrote the hashtag #together on their flag should survive when the average users with a simple question a treated like this. Next time, i would not ask any questions anymore. If this is what you want here - than ok. I am also fine to leave this place.
