Guys, please stick to the topic.
Many many thanks @Jolla for supporting devices for so long time!
I’ve been following Jolla since the beginning, but never bit.
As soon as I heard that I was getting 5 years or more of support and the monthly subscription was scrapped, I quickly searched for basic information and merrily ordered my Jolla C2.
Happy times…
Let’s see how long it takes my family to leave Apple behind…
We already have a few Linux PCs around and they serve us well.
huge mistake, and its enough to have quick look on these very forums to see that
Congrats on the C2 purchase. Welcome aboard!
No Sir, I looked deeply, and decided for it nonetheless…
I think it will be a nice reference platform at that price point (yeah, I read about the Reeder…)
I prefer this business model: you pay for hardware, and get support…
Yikes well, feel free to ping me in a month or two when you’ll be selling it
Oh no!
In two months I will be busy snapping a lot of photos with the new Camera App!
Fits me perfectly…I don’t like video
Look, (unfortunately) I have little time to tinker with rooted devices, and until now I never had the possibility of having a privacy-oriented, Linux-based OS in my pocket. (And EU based! in this crazy times we are living)
As always, time will tell…
Hi to all
I’m not criticising sfos
I’m criticising c2 specifically. It’s so bad it’s not even reference device
I seem to get where you’re coming from…
Specs could have been better - but -
I wouldn’t have bought at, say, more than 400€…so good call on Jolla.
Alternatives?
Liberux(x, xx, xxx, whatever) campaign just failed for a reason.
Fairphone 6, I know: needs Android wiped out, and comes at a price.
I need to get some mileage out of SFOS before asking for raw performance.
Cheers,
Andrea
I am on exactly same boat. Will get the C2 for first SFOS device. HW will definitely be low end but I am excited about the OS!
Maybe after a little bit of tinkering with that I will get some better HW community port if Jolla publishes the AAS and Volte for ported devices.
…you know there are other phones than c2 that can run sfos and i’m not talking about xperias right? …right?
You could just say “I won’t ever get any community port” because that’s never gonna happen.
you missed this part:
It sounded in the community meeting that they will make porting easier and they at least mentioned AAS as one segment. I can’t remember for sure if Volte was mentioned but it’s good to be wishful
that has nothing to do with sfos. rooted devices = android
As if it wasn’t established enough that they don’t do anything that they promise they’ll do in community meeting
They had to make a community meeting to find solution to them not doing shit they said they’ll do during community meetings
And aliendalvik on ports is as old talk as is sfos. It’s not a new thing. It’s been discussed 10 years ago, 5 years ago, its not happening they gave like 10 excuses already
Let’s see, i hope that’s not the case. But I have time, I know I won’t daily drive the C2. I will use my current phone as long as it last and then check then the best option
Isn’t there any way to adapt Waydroid to work inside SFOS and without launching the whole Android user interface? (To get rid of the Jolla AAS and all the licence stuff and secretiveness)
