JollaPhone2026 - ringtone volume

I find this category fits but with not sure in 100%.
Is there any easy way to lock ring tone volume set? In JP2026 almost every time I have an incoming call a ringtone volume is set at 0%. JollaPhone2026 is especially prone to spontaneously change ringtone volume to 0.

You might have saved your ambience with a low ringtone setting.

It obviously isn’t changing ringtone volume by itself - the forum would be overflowing with bug reports if that was true.
Figure out what you are doing for it to happen and stop that and don’t make this an XY-problem - @WT.Sane has a good theory.

For finding out, it might also be as simple as you are pressing volume down outside of any media context, a) thinking you are in one b) holding your device in such a way you press vol- c) external presses by shell/cover/pouch/arm rest/safety belt or such on vol-.

Ambiance volume is set at 80%. Definitely it is by pushing Vol- button in the pocket.

For finding what? 20 characters

Finding out the reason for what causes the vol- pressing, I gave quite some examples and you found a very similar one, pocket pressing.

Yes. Lock the device.

No, serious: if device is locked the vol-up and -down do not react. Are you probably playing with the device in your pocket?

Ambience changes?

Situations or similar app?

No. I can change ringtone volume while device is locked. Have checked this?

No, of course not.

I just re-read title and I really spoke for older/other devices, where this is not possible.

Going to power up the Beast…

You shouldn’t play in your pocket… no matter what ā€˜device’.

I have no idea what older/other devices you have in mind but i have X10II and it behaves the same.

XA2 (and from top of my head: J1).

Is your 10 III still on 5.1 or did you dare to update it to 5.2 already?

In latter case it might be a regression (and a bug)?

X10II still on 5.1.0.11.

I just booted up my not-yet-in-usage JP2026.

And you know what I experience?

Absolutely the same behaviour I expected.

Locking the phone by pressing (once) the power key, or just let the display time out, completely locks the Vol Up/Down buttons, so nothing can be changed or change on its own in the trouser.

Do you have any patches or applicatuons (daemons) installed?

And I would like other people’s input….

You were talking about locking phone state locking device. There are two states locking off and locking off + screen off if you do not recognize. In the state locked you can change ringtone volume.

You are absolutely right!

  • Locked and screen off: volume change not possible
  • Locked and screen on (maybe because of unintended double tap) change is possible

I was talking with 'ā€œLockedā€ as display lock, blacked, sleep after installation settings.

And not at all about ā€œdevice lockā€. The device lock, needing you to double FP touch, does not matter at all.

With a sleeping display there is absolutely no reaction to volume buttons.

What you experience is:

Display on:

Vol buttons react

So a chain reaction, pressed power (once is enoigh) and volume buttons at same (or in short period of) time.

The way it is and was since …

And usable for setting (e.g. music) volume in trouser
