Since some days, I notice some strange behavior when charging my Jolla tablet.
After connecting the tablet to a power supply it shows that it is charging but nothing happens. The battery capacity becomes less and less, while in charging mode, as time goes on.
No matter if it’s turned off, shut down or always on. Disconnecting and connecting again makes the tablet charge but only up to 81% or 76%. Then, while still connected and showing the charging icon the battery capacity is getting less again. I’ve tested several cables and chargers, it simply doesn’t make any difference. OS Version 4.2.0.21. I thought of switching of Android App Support because I’m just using it for one game. Not tested yet because it worked in the past.
Has any one encountered similar issues or an idea what to do?
Install battery buddy and monitor the charge, had a similar problem as most chargers/laptops would initially show charging at ~500ish, then after a few minutes (sometimes up to few dozen) the current would show it’s discharging even though charging icon was still there, only one combo of charger+cable (both original nokia ones) would reliably start charging at 1500 and keep it there indefinitely hth
It might help to ckean the usb socket
If cleaning the USB port does not help, you might need to replace it. It’s a not-uncommon issue.
Thank you guys for your suggestions and the hint to TJC.
For me, changing a USB Plug, is like heart surgery. Let’s see if the patient will survive.
I might still have a USB socket left from my own surgery a few years ago. If you need one, I can send it to you for free. (I assume you live in the DACH region?)
I recommend you also to change the battery at the time. I’ve done it some time ago and found a suitable replacement battery. You find a thread here in the forums (Changing the battery on the Jolla Tablet) which guides you how to open the Jolla tablet and there should be a way to change the mirco-USB charging board.
